As a newbie to this game, I noticed that the expansion pack that I was set to pre order is PC only. I hate to say it but I simply WONT buy any Microsoft Windows oriented products. First of all I cant stand their software and their pro virus infection stance (which arises from their insistence on making everything transparently scriptable). Anyone doing any banking on a Windows machine is on their hands and knees begging to be a victim of identity theft.Second of all, I dont have a microsoft oriented computer. I Am a Principal Software Engineer and I dont even use Microsoft at work and I have no intention of changing that.
This seems like a very odd statement, pro virus infection stance? if you are a software engineer you should know that there are mac virus' out there and those few there are, are significantly more infectious and since people just believe mac doesn't get virus often hit significantly harder? the main reason there are only limited mac virus' is the limited mac usage, not because any OS is 'better' then any other OS.
Windows has an enormous amount more virus because it is used significantly more and has a significantly broader scope then Mac computers have had for a long time? Having a Mac doesn't magically mean you will avoid virus' it just means there are fewer existing there currently?
Getting angry at Frontier and them not able to release a Mac version is just weird, because again you should know that Mac has yet to update so that the features needed for horizon actually are on the Mac. Vulkan should arrive whenever it does and I am sure that frontier will then be able to release a mac version.
I will gladly admit I do not know if Mac is gaining any grounds on OS side, they seem to have been around 4% ish for quite a while. Though at the very least more gamers are appearing from the Mac's as more games become able to run on Mac
On the deal with Microsoft, I do believe frontier has already stated they are aiming for all consoles so it is likely in the works, I wouldn't be too surprised if it arrived with or a bit after horizon.
But to say Mac's are better, and that Windows is haemorrhaging market share to them seems odd.
Stability/virus issues are mostly user caused, not windows, if the same kind of users used Mac it would also cause stability issues. Using "but they cannot install most of the stuff that causes instability on Mac" does not mean Mac is more stable, it just means you are denying people the ability to install 'shiny' stuff, and if more Mac's is gaining ground then more shiny stuff and virus' will begin to emerge.
Like windows or not, Windows is clearly the most diverse and flexible of the two operating systems, offering people freedom to tinker with most everything in it rather easily, this gives possible risks yes, but also freedom.
Mac is more closed and limited, and as such, while it means a possible increased security in the short term, once black hats see enough mac users to warrant making stuff that will affect Mac's, Mac users will most definitely find the need for anti virus and such.
So yeah, your post seems odd, to me, maybe its just me, and being the internet you could claim to be anyone and such. But it seems almost like an irrational hatred towards Windows. Personally I use whatever OS suits the need best. Need biggest compatibility and flexibility and gaming? windows. Need a specific task, server or similar that needs to be on 24/7. Linux. So yeah, I don't really use Mac's myself though I have used them, and I just don't see what all the praise they get is about, it seems, without meaning offence. That companies just buy into Apple's marketing, and that since people need to use said software that only exists for Mac's they get Mac's?, but there are almost always alternatives on other OS's that is just as good.
Use what you want, for what you want, but come on, don't get upset that others do not do the same? and that when what you like has limitations that affect things such as in this case, horizon.
