Oi Jingles! Come on you can do better than that ;-)

oh dear. Mr Jingles (great youtuber many followers) didn't quite get the Ethics & Credits scenario

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTpLMkAzl6k

which is a shame as his channel has many followers mostly from the WOT and WarThunder community but they were completely sold on Star Citizen fancy spaceships....

Likewise Scott Manley (always excellent many followers) didn't really seem to get what was going on..

Its understandable as these guys make lots of great content and don't have time to learn every detail about the games they roadtest...but...We need to find a big youtuber who can take a lilttle bit of time out to make this game look as good as this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vvl7uaR1sfI so people get it :)

Trust me when i say this:

You don't want too many of the WOT community on here. If you want an explanation just visit their forums....and get your HAZMAT suit on.

Jingles's video is an example of why people need to learn how to play the game, what is going, and what to do BEFORE you make a video and upload it to youtube.

Totalbiscuit made an absolute damming video of Godus, really getting angry and not understanding why the thing was so rubbish, yet I, who know what to do, watched Totalbiscuit's Godus video thinking "Maybe if you learned how to play the game you'd not get so upset over it"

I don't think the whole WOT community is going to ram-sack us. I do think we need to be supportive of Jingles and friends because they are doing good work promoting Elite and both he and Scott Manley are knowledgeable enough on classic Elite. The game will probably be good enough to speak for itself but it doesn't hurt to generate interest and get the word out!

There is a benefit to making videos that show potential players the learning curve; what it's like to play when you're new and leading them through the various extra features one at a time. Jingles will probably make other video's in future as he discovers new features and will introduce them to his viewers as he does so. If the only video's were by experts who already know everything, they would probably forget to explain (or show) the basics that new players are trying to master.

Yes, all you people ... all of you ... keep putting up videos showing me how you play the game ... MWAHAHAHA .... :D

this is true (although he does have an annoying habit of introducing Elite videos with comments about waiting for Star Citizen) but I fear he won't as he is more into WOT/WarThunder stuff. However he may revisit it in Alpha 3 etc.

It's a fair cop, I suck at ED. I do promise to get better (I couldn't get much worse!) and spend some time watching some of the pros so I can leech off their experience and therefore not reveal myself to be such a total nub in future. While I'm practicing not sucking, do you lot have any recommendations for who I could promote on my Facebook page as someone worth watching to distract my minions from my own awful performance? Seems like it'd be the least I could do.

I've sunk a few hundred of my own cash into this game so far, there's not much chance I'm going to abandon it for some flashy Chris Roberts product. Big fan of all the original Elite games, I'll be playing this and doing videos of it and if my subscribers don't like it, tough y.

Apologies to all the people I murdered on my first Ethics run by the way. Even the bots. They have feelings too.

Granted, Jingles does make entertaining videos and is probably a nice chap (for an ex Sailor). But he talks some rubbish as far as games are concerned. Fact.

Show me a YouTuber who's never been accused of talking rubbish about a game and I'll show you a YouTuber who has precisely zero comments on his videos. Although in my case it is true. I do talk utter ********.

Agreed. The WoT forums are a disaster area, made worse by clueless & uncaring mods who have made the community hostile toward them through their heavy-handed methods.
But I don't think you need worry about too many WoT players showing up here because Jingles' videos should act as some kind of filter, helping to bring in those who understand what ED is about & deterring those who don't.

I defend the right of jingles to talk about whatever he wants. Its clear that he is supporting the project. I actually find him very knowledgeable and he seems to know a lot about military hardware.

Zeewolf from this thread has some good videos. I m on the tablet at the moment so can't paste links easily but I ll paste some links later this evening.

It just needs the right info going out.

A lot of the comments to the video were by people with zero understanding of what the point was. Mis-information is the true enemy.

There were a few staunch ED forumites doing their best to educate, but the responsibility lies with the person making the video ;)

Apart from that, keep up the good work Jingles, see you online sir.

Fair play to Jingles for dropping by and offering to promote the game on his FB.....obviously there is no point doing it if it isn't fun and Jingles shouldn't feel any pressure from the community, his videos are about first impressions and its nice of him to drop by the forum. The video was kind of funny anyway.
