Powerplay How many players are actually participating in Power Play?

I've been playing a couple weeks now and have been wondering about this. How much of the playerbase is actually participating on a regular basis throughout each cycle?

I am a casual Gamer, and my game hours are limited....but I have found I can spend a few hours of my Elite gaming a week maintaining rank 4 in PP. I mostly undermine the systems within 50ly of my 'home', as a bonus I get some decent combat experience too.

Well, with the little time I have I managed to casually hunt random innocent people in other PP factions and shoot them down. Got me to rank 3 in aproximately 3 hours.

WHY Li Yong-Rui even WANT me to kill people I have no idea but he seems happy about it. I cant really see the point in being a travelling salesman and murdering customers, seems counterproductive.

greetings commanders

it is estimated that 20% of players participate in Powerplay

No one really knows. Polls on the forums indicate 20% of player base but the reality is that's a small percentage of people polled. So we don't know.

Not me anymore, is not worth the time investment. It really is the merit drop-off that is killing it. TAke it off and stick the special weapon on rank 4 or 5. Fixed. This would put off defectors as they would need loads of merits oon one side. Also would other sides provide ammunition and be able to fix specials. Not straight away. Then just add anew / different reward at rank 3 for more casual players and thus adding some diversity. This would save it for me as then I would not have to spend 3 quarters of my game time ferrying boxes about. Everyone who participates wins. Hurrah.

Well, about 8.5m merits were collected last cycle for Fortification and Undermining. From that you could guess the average contribution and derive the number of active participants. 5000 merits per player average would be 1700, 500 merits per participants would be 17,000. Then you need to look at preparation/expansion.

But how many players actually do this to play power play, and how many do this for the 50 million salary and don't care how they affect power play?

Martin Schou's post on the effectiveness of powers in reducing waste is may be a good indication of how many fall into each category for each power. About half merits are wasted overall on his analysis, so that sounds like a reasonable starting point. I suspect that for many powers the "cares" watch the "don't cares" activities and adjust their own to suit (e.g. if the "don't cares" get a system half fortified the "cares" do the rest). If so then less than half are "cares".

Seems like a fair assessment. I didn't even know about the poll and I enjoy powerplay.

Pledging takes a couple of clicks. I think the question was how many players are actively participating in actual meaningful PP activity.

I participate because its an easy way to score 5M Credits a week. Can't say that I'm emotionally invested in how my team is actually doing.

If there were Defensive Combat Merits, there would also be PP based PVP. Until then, power play will remain a soul sucking PVE Grind.

Thats not true. I have done tones of powerplay PVP , in the domain of the evil hudson there a lot of PVP to be done. and it seems that federal training is a bit lack

I heard a rumour sayin' she was on vacation and that she got a message stating that when she got back, it was okay if she went ahead and turned off the lights. Just what I heard.

At first I thought it was not up to much, but now I've got stuck into it with Hudson. The Hudson people on Reddit have their fecal matter together without the drama and that's a bonus in my book. The tactical aspect of it is great, if FD water it down too much it'll be dead in the water.

Most players I have seen in the galaxy are pleged

Yeah almost every one I see in open is pledged. It is a rare thing that I find some one unpledged. I guess all the non power play are in group/solo? Nothing wrong with that or anything but I find it odd that most of the players in open are pledged.
