Powerplay Zemina Torval: Where is the collapse?

I have a vague recollection of reading a post that indicated the creation and destruction of a Power was a manual process that had to be carried out by Devs, not automatic. Powerplay is really just a big spreadsheet where we all post numbers through our activities, and then FD makes decisions based on those numbers. It doesnt' appear to be as dynamic as first thought.

Reading the instructions for PP points out that no expansion + bottom 3 powers= a 'growing chance' of removal from the game.

For those new to this type of talk...this means that once these items are ticked...a dice roll (well rng generator) is rolled and a success or failure is based on this.

So, every week a Power ticks those two boxes...an RNG roll occurs and the Power passes or fails.

The rules also state a growing chance...I doubt this will ever be 100%. I would doubt that the top % is more than 10%. At 10% that means that you would have to roll a 10 on a 10 sided die....not very good odds for those that remember D&D.

Delaine was at the bottom as well for more than 3 weeks. He is still there guess PP isn't ready yet.

Being merely at the bottom is not enough, you need to not have any expansions to be at risk of collapse. Archon Delaine always managed to get at least one expansion.

I reckon they've not implemented the feature for collapse yet, and probably won't until we get to 20 powers. Also it would be surprising, given how much else requires manual intervention, if they could automatically collapse a power. Did it get tested in Beta? If not, what would be the chance of it working given how poor 1.3 was?

Torval Power Base in State of Collapse?

- Description – This should ideally be no more than 150 words

After weeks of valiant effort to sustain her power base, leaked documents indicate Torval's power base is collapsing. The documents indicate the first signs are the the loss of the most productive systems furthest from her head quarters. The validity of these documents has been brought in to question along with the data that is available to political analysts. Many say that the polls and data are rigged by an unknown third party and are at best a false indication of the state of play. Her supporters have speculated that the collapse has been coming for over a month. Other powers look on with mixed feelings and great concern for their own well being. However, there has been no official statement and many are unclear what the actual situation is. Some things are certain, nothing is clear and the available information is frequently misguiding and inaccurate.

Any good?

Hi Ben, I've read your posts for a long time, especially on smuggling.

One thing that I think it quite sad is people constantly worrying about the collapse of Zemina Torval.

I believe that this is mainly a combination of Federal/Imperial rivalry with Torval having a smaller player base then other imperial powers and hence being targeted.

Also the thing that would attract someone to power play for torval is being an imperial trader. Everyone gets the slave and mining benefits so the only real reasons to pledge are the 5% trade bonus and the mining laser or because you power play as a role player.

From a trading point of view the 5% trade increase is offset by the increased interdictions and having to fit shields when trading - e.g no reason for an imperial trader to pledge.

Despite that we have a small hardcore of pledgers who work hard - no for the cash, but because Torval is a colourful character.

We get targeted by 5th columnists, assume a 100% undermining of all systems from a combination of opponents. We fortify all our valuable systems and can hold our own.

I understand people are fascinated with the collapse mechanic and are looking for a big drama, but I think that the constant attempts by players to influence power play though submitting Galnet articals that aren't even anything to do with their power is disappointing.

I hope you and the Simguru never have to experience being targeted like us.

Well, for me there are two reasons I've been hoping to see Torval collapse, or at least start to:

1: I want to see the mechanics in action so we can document how they work.

2: In order to strike at ALD and Aisling, most Powers have to go through Patreus and Torval first due to how the Imperial powers are positioned. One of those two being removed would make it easier to put pressure on the Princesses.

This cycle though, Torval has an expansion lined up with extremely favorable triggers. It will probably go through barring some sort of miracle, which means, from what we've seen, a bare minimum of another five weeks before we can test the mechanics again.

I wish people would leave Mom alone, she is making me richer.

It's not our fault FD decided to make you a buffer state for their two favorite powers. Unfortunately, the way PP is currently set up, your job is to take ALD and Aisling's punches for them. As long as you exist, they remain difficult to undermine. Put another way, you are ablative armor: life is boring, then briefly exciting, then over!

But look at me, still talking when there's science to do! When I look out there, it makes me glad I'm not you. I've experiments to run, there is research to be done, on the people who are still aliiiiive~

Living galaxy, each player affects is, now be sure to take this script on your way to the pilot bay.
Torval will never dissapear because she has a big role in their lore plan, they might kill her off or she die at some point, but dont expect her to dissapear because of powerplay.

She was only mentioned once to defend Patreus and probably demanded him that he reminds her of her youth as exchange for that...

Whatever happens to Torval or any other future power which gets in danger of collapsing, I really hope FD will embed a collapse in the general PP storyline with a colourful set of GalNet news and ample warning time.

Assuming that a collapsed power will be replaced, who could possibly replace Torval on the Imperial side?

- Harold Duval assuming a more prominent role in PP iot safeguard his Onionhead supply
- Kahina Loren returning from oblivion/alien captivity/a safari with the Thargoids/a secret honeymoon with Archon Delaine
- Chancellor Blaine being allowed to act in-character (he seems *the* imperial power broker, but remains outside of PP o why?)
- whoever is at the helm of Emperor's Dawn
- ...

Got to say, you guys are doing an incredible job considering the odds! Antal has been building bridge with the Empire for a while now.
