Powerplay 5,000,000 CR/week maintained with less than 1.5 hours/week of 'work'

I used to go to security points and kill ships for 10 merits per kill until my faction (Zachary Hudson) was in turmoil and I was forced to seek out other methods of maintaining my rank. I tried running vouchers but that was a SERIOUS waste of time. I spent 600,000 CR upping my merit carrying capacity only to find out that was a one-time upgrade! I started undermining in enemy faction systems, I love this game again! I know it's risky to play Open Play but that's half of the fun in my opinion. Nothing quite gets your blood pumping like a player behind you in hyperspace. I've had a few encounters with players while doing this, none during these videos though. I generally tend to get away or fight my way through the interdiction anyway, sweaty palms and all.

Sorry in advance, I know I don't say much to facecam, in fact, all I say are voiceattack commands. I'm new to the whole facecam thing and I'm not used to talking to myself like a crazy person... yet. Props to those who are good at it, not sure what it takes, but I need to work on it for sure. I ordered a green screen, so now I'm committed ;)

Bandaid for powerplay >>> make it open mode only.

Which will change nothing.

Instead reduce merit reward down to ZERO when undermining an already 100% undermined system until the defending faction has fortified it and reduced the undermining to below 100%.

Uh you cannot reduce undermining to below 100%. That is not how it works.

There is no point to ever undermining or fortifying beyond 100%. Other than to selfishly make merits.

I think that's what he's saying , don't award merits to anyone undermining a system at 100% already.

To the OP: congrats for this. Next time you can try to fly a pvp fitted ship and pew pew some enemy commanders, it's way more funny when you fight enemy players knowing if you lose you will also lose the merits.

What would you say is a PVP fitted ship? Lots of chaff and shield cell banks? The last time I did this I did interdict a couple CMDRs, most of them jump away before I can take out their hull. I did kill a factionless Type-6 for absolutely no reason. I still feel bad about it :( I agree though, nothing beats the rush of PVP.

Why not just go into a Military Strike, you can easily farm up over 1000 merits in 2-3 hours.

I used to but I get more merits per minute by undermining, and it's a little more thrilling because I run into more players this way. Also, when my faction is in turmoil, I don't think Military Strikes or Security Operations are an option.

Well farming merits :)

Is that by undermining? What's your secret? At my current rate, which I think is pretty good (9.75 merits per minute) I'd have ~2,925 merits after 5 hours. 10,000 merits are needed for rank 5 (or 5,000 to maintain rank 5), so I'd need to almost double my merits-per-minute to maintain rank 5 with only 5 hours per week.

5 hours a week? What the hell are you doing? Around 200 merits per hour of non stop conflict zone action is what I get in a fairly well (mostly B) kitted out Cobra.

So if I'm in a system that's got say 2,000 merits worth of undermining to go, and I earn 1,000 merits undermining it, and someone else (maybe from a different power entirely) hands in the 2,000 merits they earned yesterday, I should lose those 1,000 merits? Yeah, that sounds like a brilliant idea, and will certainly not make PowerPlay less fun.

i think the idea is you can still cash in those 1000 merits, but will not obtain any more for destroying targets in that system once it hits 100%. you'll have to move to another system, that's the whole point.

not a bad idea, but i don't think frontier will like it. too easy, the outcome would be totally predictable by numbers (and understanding the effect of greed). they have this bizarre fixation of having players fight for control without control and organizing without communicating, go figure.

I'm confused...where did you get the 50 million a week figure from? It looks to me like he said 5 million per week in just under 1.5 hours of 'work'

He's saying he can maintain Rank 5 (50MIL) in just 5 hours per week which is very impressive. That's 34 interdicted kills per hour, more than a kill every 2 minutes. I'd love to see that level of destruction in a vid.

Right! Gotcha! Well in that case, yeah, very impressive...very. Thanks for clearing that up for me. Yeah, I'd like to see that vid too. Could sit and watch it with a bowl of popcorn whilst listening to 'Danger Zone' from 'Top Gun'.

That's not what we're saying. What we're saying is that you shouldn't be able to keep getting the vouchers after it has hit 100%. And it should stop giving you vouchers once you have enough to top it off to 100%.
