Let's say you make a post and get repped for it. Then at some point a moderator has reason to delete that post. Your rep gets deleted as well.

Kind of obvious I know, but it's nice to confirm these things. I hope you understand I can't show you my settings page with my rep on it as I'd have to blur out pretty much everything in the image (ie infractions etc). I have gone from the usual last 5 reps to only 3.

Obviously, this thread has taken on a life of its own as bit of fun. +1 for that. ;)

Just thought I'd offer a comment on the OP though - assuming I understand it correctly. Even though you can give rep to someone's post, there is no visual feedback (for anyone looking at the post) that the post has received rep. Sometimes I think people deserve recognition for a particularly good comment. By posting a "+1" to the thread, it gives a small piece of visual recognition for the poster. Just a thought.

Check settings in top right corner of your screen. There you can see I think it's the five most recent to give you rep. :)

It's quite easy for me to see who has given me rep, and for which post.

Plus I've had people write +1 to my posts, but not give any rep, which was a bit boggling for me... :)

So my original point was, why mention it at all? Unless you feel the need to tell everyone how generous you are with your rep. And why do that in the first place?... I don't get it... :D

Yes, the person receiving the rep can see it in their own settings page and eventually with the little green boxes. But there is no 'rep counter' on the individual post (such as the 'likes' in Facebook). So if I rep your post, for example, only you will really see (privately) that you have received rep for it. Whereas I might think that your post is so good that it deserves a more public rep. By adding a post to your thread and like quoting you, it is the best I would be able to do in that regard.

While I understand and respect your point, it still puzzles me. Are you thinking along the lines of an up and down feature for what you consider good or bad posts, or are you wishing to let others know that you in particular approved or disapproved of any given post?

What interest is it to others, whether you like or dislike a post, apart from the OP in question?

Up/down is similar I guess. Doesn't Reddit use that? Not sure. But plenty of social sites have a similar concept. Facebook has likes. Google+ has +1s. Everyone does it. Someone must have thought it was a good idea otherwise it wouldn't keep showing up.

I'm just not sure I think it's a good idea... :)
