How many of you with Anaconda's, are prepared to risk 10m

I own a Anaconda, i have a rebuy cost of just short of 10m.
I also presently have 50m in the bank. I also currently own an Asp and a Vulture.
All are pretty well upgraded, the Anaconda has a nice collection of expensive beams and Large Cannon, and Multi cannons, so it can defend itself pretty well, i am master rank at combat, so pretty average.
Now my question is this, i am still not happy about risking my Anaconda, and losing 10m, even though i can afford, i always trade in Mobius, any missions or combat, i always use the Vulture, i don't mind open with this ship, reason, rebuy is cheap.
Same with Asp, but i never risk the Anny if i can help it.
Am i being too paranoid, to careful with my credits, should i take more risk v more excitement.
Credits on my account is just a number, so why do i care about them so much.
Am i now afflicted by some sort of Elite nervous paranoia syndrome, am i just getting too worried about nothing.
I want to know if i am feeling this alone, or are others the same, would you risk 10m, (plus cargo) or take a cheaper ship if you can.
I have signed up for the Hutton convoy, and the code battle, but i hope my Vulture will do. But if i have to use my Anny i will, but if you hurt her, i will hunt you forever.

shhh... Don't worry Betty, you won't have to go.......(she's a little worried now)

edit: just remembered i need to buy a cobra for code battle.

I don't think you should worry about her, I take mine into combat all the time. The shields are insane, put some chaff on, know your limits. Run out of SCBs (if you use them), shields get low? Throw 4 pips to systems and get out. Even with shields down I've survived 4 dangerous-elite NPC anacondas hitting my hull long enough to wake out. She is expensive, but also very tough. I bought her to fly her, not look at her holo in the shipyard.

oh i do use her, but mainly for trading, but try to be careful about taking her into combat, maybe too careful though, hence the question, who else risk there expensive Anny, or do most keep her safe.
Mine is fitted with 6 SB, 2 chaff. 1 SCB she has all the best to keep her safe

(ok i am kidding just a little, not that worried)

You should be able to take a massive pounding with 4SB and an SCB. An annie with the smallest shield equipped and 4 A0 boosters has more shield than a Vulture with the best shield (ignoring prismatic) and 2 A0 boosters and you've got almost 4x the armor. So while you are a bigger target, you're a well defended one. If you feel safe in your Vulture in combat, you should feel pretty safe in your annie. There is nothing like experience to get you comfortable. Go pop into a nav beacon, they are pretty tame, or a RES and try it out, nothing there will present a real threat to you. The only time I really need to pay attention is in a HiCZ or in a HiRES if I get a wing of 3 clippers or pythons (very rare), even then I'm in no danger of death, just having to bail.

i have a 16 million re-buy on my Anaconda and don't mind risking it one bit, mind you i do have 350 million in the bank as well ;)

As long as you have the rebuy cost...why do you care if you lose a fight? Answer that question...then you will know whether to ever outfit the ship for battle.

I have an Anaconda, used exclusively for hauling, no weapons, insane shield, 30Ly range (empty).

My question is: do you have fun fighting with her? I mean, sure the first hour may make you feel like piloting a battle cruiser, but after that? No carzy dogfight, simply line up the target, boom, next..?

I even prefer my Cobra over my Clipper vs NPCs...and the most fun I have had in PvP is actually by flying the Condor in CQC...

i feel a little bit the same (about my python). i take my cobra to community goals normally, rarely my clipper - and when i used my python for the smuggling cgs in open, i was very nervous (because the closest source of narcotics was on an outpost).

also, one has to take into account, that flying such a ship people might attack you simply because they assume you are up for pvp (i have this sometimes, when i take my python to powerplay systems - wings interdicting me, because they are looking for somebody in a python...).

with a scb and highwaking, you don't run into a risk really. but it feels different.

so - fly what is fun for you! i have more fun to fly my cobra (or clipper) around a community goal.

Probably being abit over cautious If your not looking for a fight youd have to be very unlucky to encounter a hostile strong enough to take you out.

I think aslong as you got the cash to cover 2 rebuys and a full cargo bay it would be a shame not to take her out to fight. I've seen this behaviour with expencive luxury goods like watches "i love my rolex but im worried it will get scratched so I don't wear it". No point owning an Ana loaded with weapons if if you dont use it !

I use my anaconda for everything it is a 22 mil buy back if I loose it but with 1400mj a large amount of bursts pulse and a huge cannon along with 2 b6 scb I highly doubt I would ever loose it. I have been close, I messed up and boosted out of a station killing an npc hauler. That resulted in a very angry station I popped both scbs and hit boost again and got away with 1 ring left. If you are afraid of lossing it put more money into it to make it harder to loose.

I cannot speak much to Open, as I don't play in Open, I have no interest in playing in Open, and Mobius is more of my kind of environment. As with all MMOs I have ever played, I am not much for PvP. I don't need the frustration, and at my age and what I do for a living 12 to 14 hours each day I don't need my heartrate rising to feel alive playing the game. I get that day in, day out at work, so I want my gaming experience more relaxing than impacting. Thus, I cannot speak as to your concern with using the ship in Open. That being said, I have an Anaconda, fully kitted out for Combat. I do take her to the CZ zones in Mobius where PvP is permitted, which is the extent of my PvP exposure, but short of that it is all PvE. My rebuy is a tick under 22 million, with discounts from the purchase as Elite in the station near and about Founder's World, otherwise it would be 24.5 million. I also have an FDL fully A-spec as well. I don't have any issue or concern with taking her out there, but I do have 15 times the funds available to me that you do at 50 million credits, but even if I had 5 times the funds in relation to your funding to rebuy ratio, I would still take out that beast.

Enjoy it man! It is an Anaconda! How could you not want to take it out there and melt away a few ships. I am confident that you will survive the excursion.

I use my Conda in Open all the time, but if you want me to knowingly go up against a wing in PvP, that's a whole different ball game that I don't think i'm in for even though I can afford it. It just doesn't make sense unless you are also in a wing with 3 others who are REALLY good at PvP and have some heavy firepower.

Then, you also need to consider the inconsistency of wings with instancing and networking issues that can sometimes ruin the best laid plans.

Want me along for PvP? I'm probably going in a full A kitted Clipper with plenty of bail out speed. Maybe an FDL or Vulture, but I don't throw my 17Mil re-buy Conda into the fray without a really good reason. A Courier would be a great ride if you just want to have fun, but expect to die if you engage an experienced PvP wing.

I really admire your confidence with his assets...

Especially while you're safe in Mobius.

My rebuy cost is 17m, I like sitting in high intensity resource extraction zones and popping ships with my 4x beam lasers. I have upgraded the shields quite a lot and have hull reinforcement too (1190/1425 respectively). Also have 3x SCB's just in case. If the shields go down too much I can get away without problems. Come close a couple of times (before I added SCB's) but it makes life interesting. Only have 16 tonnes cargo capacity - usually carry some gold just to keep the pirates interested.

My other Anaconda is so very different, kitted out for exploration and doesn't even have shields.

I agree with OP.

I don't much see the point of the big ships. I just don't ever see myself recouping the cost, and it's hours worth of grinding to afford the rebuy costs.

No matter how much I play, as a casual player, I don't ever see myself breaking even on an anaconda or anything like it. Even if I could afford one, it just seems like a credit bleed to keep it repaired, equipped, and re-bought when I eventually loose it.

Maybe it will look more feasible to me once I get this rank5 PP stuf sorted out, but until then I am a Cobra Commando.

My two cents? Use her to fight, but if you got 50m, and rebuy is 10m, I can imagine you're a bit hesitant. If I were in your shoes, I'd feel more comfortable having about 100m in the bank. The rebuy is 10% and at that point I'd feel a lot better taking her into battle.

In my experience the ship income is proportional to the cost, that being, I have some high expense in my anaconda, but I make big money. I can upgrade a cobra in about the same amount of time (using only the cobra) as I can upgrade my anaconda (using only the anaconda). The thing that slows me down is flying vipers and asps and such! I like having the big ship because it lets me get and maintain and fly a whole fleet of little ones, and to shoot lots and lots of lasers!
