Obviously, this thread has taken on a life of its own as bit of fun. +1 for that.
Just thought I'd offer a comment on the OP though - assuming I understand it correctly. Even though you can give rep to someone's post, there is no visual feedback (for anyone looking at the post) that the post has received rep. Sometimes I think people deserve recognition for a particularly good comment. By posting a "+1" to the thread, it gives a small piece of visual recognition for the poster. Just a thought.

We had an upvote downvote system, but it was removed at the height of the post launch solo debate because of brigading votes. Now only upvotes are possible.

That sadly was pretty much the case. negative rep was used by some forum members in not a very nice way so it was squished with extreme prejudice along with the ability to leave comments.
The same with the rep power, I used to have a rep power of 20 points due to my length of time here and post count but it was decided that a flat 1 point rep power for everyone would be best.
However I do love a bit of rep and leaving a rep comment for someone who has made a good post, comment etc. is a nice way to say well done.
