Build a Station inside Nebula - Potential CG - Frontier asking for info...

UPDATE 2: Let's keep this thread alive, if there's any possibility of this CG actually happening we want as much interest as possible!

Having a station inside a nebula would be a game changer for a lot of people!

UPDATE: Okay so Zac Antonaci has just Tweeted that Frontier will take a look into potentially setting up a community goal for building a station within a nebula. What we need now is a bunch of information showing exactly what we would like to see. So let's collect that together in this thread, and see what we can agree upon, and once done I will send the info to Zac.

Which nebula and system do we want the station located in?
What purpose should the station serve?
What type of activities should the community goal require?

Michael Brookes told me on Friday during my interview with him and Sandro that there is a "chance" of a community goal to put a station inside a nebula. So - let's put on the pressure and make it happen!

I spoke of this some while ago, with regards having outpost and station at nebulae level, far enough away that it starts a small but well defined human space presence that in time will grow, with scientific mission bases that require you to go into nebs: find data or missing missing ships, cryo tubes, cargo anything like that in exchange for credits, this would provide an excellent way for cmdrs to venture out to voids.

As well as providing stations / outposts in asteroid locations or nearer planets with the advent of up coming horizons, lets not only see sun rises and planet from planet landings but those stations as well.

Indeed visually Barnards Loop has been my greatest sightseeing experience so far, especially the view between barnards Loop and Witchead Nebula.

Betelgeuse has also been incredible.

I'm 7 jumps away from VY Canis MAjoris now, I believe it will easily make my list of top greatest places to visit in the galaxy, together with BL, the Witchead Nebula, the California Nebula, Betelgeuse and the Maia system and its black hole inside the Pleiades Nebula.

Pleiades is only 380LY from Sol, that's not far at all. Pleiades is a short hop to the California Nebulae, and Witchead. Once at Witchead, it's a short hop to Orion and Barnards loop.

Even Coalsack and the dark region is only 500Y away.

This is a HUGE goal so let's take it two or three month to complete with major step to complete :

1) step one : superstructure bring enough material
2) step two : electronic equipment.
3) step three : operating crew bring them in.

777Driver is right, there are at least half a dozen beautiful places to check out very near the bubble. Pleiades Nebula is just around 15 minutes away with a ship with 30ly jump range. Around 30 more to Barnards Loop which is one of the most incredibly beautiful places in the galaxy. The massive star Betelgeuse is also under 20 minutes away from the bubble on a 30ly jump ship.

Enjoyed indeed... Canis Majoris is twice as big as Betelgeuse, although the absense of planets around it make it a little harder to have a sense of scale. At Betelgeuse I could actually see the first planet getting "torched" by the solar flare.

Anyway, I leave a pic of Canis Majoris at massive 30000ls distance below. Thats roughly 60 times bigger distance than Earth to Sun, and it still looks like a huge fireball.

Its incredible how much a long-range outfitted Asp (probably anaconda too) makes a dozen of beautiful places around the bubble accessible under 1 single hour of travel.

It will be a great place for explorers for one thing, as a base of operations, a save point and a place to sell discovery data.

Plus, it takes more time to get to Hutton Orbital than it takes to get to Pleiades or Coal Sack.

SOthis has stations on the way from the bubble roughly every 50ly away from each other. And Sothis is not far from pleiades nebula. A few more outposts and we will get there.

+1, it would be nice to see pockets of civilization in the uninhabited zone in general. Perhaps some colonies by outposts, which once 1.5 or Horizons is released where large ships can carry smaller ships, whichever applies, even the largest of ships can land in the outposts by their smaller ships in their docking bay.

I think it would also incentivize other commanders who have not yet explored the uninhabited regions of space to venture out there and finally give it a try, when they otherwise would not take the plunge into deep space for weeks at a time to explore. I agree, the Witchhead Nebula was amazing, and had some wonderful systems in there, here is one that I got to visit 1500k or so LY away:

Checked again, and Pleiades Nebula its actually closer to the bubble than Sothis.
