Singleplayer vs Multiplayer

If you start a singleplayer game and progress to a certain rank ..... say Dangerous.
Can you then use that char in a multiplayer game or will it be a singleplayer char forever?

i'm hoping the two remain separate.

Imagine chasing a player with a bounty into a station (multiplayer). Player logs off. Logs back on again 1 minute later with a player version ported over from single player game with possible new stats, new reputations with local police who 5 minutes ago were also trying to shoot him, new access to credits etc etc. All of a sudden the gameplay has been changed. Sounds like an exploit to me.

Apologies, balancing a 6wk old on one arm here so reply a little short but you get my take I hope :)

It would make sense for a character created in one Universe to stay in that Universe, and it would make sense on how characters are saved as I think it should be server side.

A single player game would merely be a multiplayer game played by a single player on a single PC, this was if you wanted friends to join your game they could create a character on your computer and viola, you're done :).

Exactly. The universes will forever be separate else people could cheat per se.

I love how back in the day even the mods recognized that it would be cheating if a solo player mode would be conflated with multiplayer. Nowadays, this feature is celebrated as "choice" or "freedom to play the way you want".
How obsessive fandom and marketing spin can change the nature of common perception...
