I was just thinking. Existing owners who already paid $45 USD for Elite: Dangerous have to pay another $30 USD for Horizons. That means we pay a total of $75 USD for Horizons and the base game, while people who never owned Elite: Dangerous can just pay $40 USD for Horizons and they get the base game for free!!!???
Existing players:
Horizons = $30 USD
Elite: Dangerous = $45 USD
Total = $75 USD
New players:
Elite: Dangerous & Horizons = $40 USD
Total = $40
So existing players are paying $35 more than new players!? That's $49.37 AUD!!! You don't think that is a lot for me or anyone who is not some rich jerk!?
How on Earth does this make sense!!!??? Seriously, someone tell me, how does this make any sense? Is this how they treat existing players, by charging us $35 USD/ $49 AUD more?
well as one who pays somewhere near the most local currency (exchanging to USD EURO or POUNDS) I paid 50 quid (close to 100 AUD at the time) for the mercenary pack + beta access over 12 months ago
I am not some rich kid or whatnot, I work damned hard and long hours away from my lovely wife to earn my coin.. I do not have a single problem with FDev's pricing myself... sure it would be lovely if it was cheaper but it isn't and that's the price that gets paid if we want it as soon as possible...
I just brought a mate a copy of ED through steam on sale for about 25 AUD... obviously a lot cheaper than what I paid and obviously cheaper than if I had brought him horizons... I can gift it to him through steam so it was really a no brainer to give him that as he is an old elite fan from way back...
Buy it or Not, wait for it to go on sale etc etc if that is what you prefer, I do that with a lot of games and other software (wait for it to come on sale on steam) because I do not like parting with hard earned money easily, this is also why when I saw the LEP (which cost me about 200 AUD to buy) I snapped it up because it equates to all future expansions for ED at about 22 AUD a year because of the remaining 9 Years in the frontier development plan (we are nearly 1 year in since release)
Either way even if they stop for whatever reason after 5 years I guarantee I will have had my moneys worth in entertainment value alone... When I am not busy working I tend to spend a fair bit of time in game doing things, I have well and truely clocked up over 1000 hours (FDev WHY OH WHY did you take out the total play time from the statistics???) and no doubt will clock up many many more hours ....
Some people (like me) actively support frontier through the store as and when we can, buying paintjobs, buying merchandise and e books etc so they can continue to have more funding to develop more aspects of the game for everyone to enjoy...
What do you think they will spend the money received from people upgrading to horizons (and other future expansions) on? I would suggest mostly on further development and operating costs while returing a nice dividend to their shareholders, which as a listed company is something very important for them to do as well...
If E

does well, then Frontier does well, and if Frontier do well then so do a lot of mum and dad investors when they get their yearly dividends...
