Galnet News: Imperial Succession Vote in Senate Today!!!

I'll be surprised if it doesn't involve someone dying or something exploding.
Such is the Imperial way.

If the senate goes bye bye then there can be no vote and the process would be stalled.
Oh well, not long to wait now anyways.

Half the imperial fleet and legions will turn to chaos and a big monumental fight will happen and oh... sorry. I was thinking about the Real (read Cool) Emperor.

BASK IN HIS GREATNESS OR BURN, HERETIC WORSHIPERS OF A FAKE EMPEROR.

What would be really interesting is it they took advantage of the patch tomorrow to sneak in some changes to Powerplay. Perhaps talks break down between Arissa and Aisling supporters and they both declare themselves as Imperial successor states, with other Powers aligning behind either.

From there on out, Undermining between both superfactions turns from piracy to all out war.

I doubt it would happen, but it would be awesome.

Part of the reason I think it might be "none of the above" is that if it's one of the four powers, you're going to see a concerted effort by (almost) everyone to crush them--most of them for no other reason than "because we can" and "What happens if we break this?" After all, if the Emperor lost their status as a power, then what?

Very good point.

My vote goes to chancellor Blaine, mainly because the emperor as an entity shouldn't be subject to goofy PP mechanics.

Besides the stations wouldn't have to be repainted and for some reason, I think he would make an Emperor more to my taste than any of the PP contenders.

Would be even better if Aisling reacted like the delusional, megalomaniac brat she is and defected to the Feds/Alliance where she belongs. Well - one can still dream - I'm afraid Banana is right and there will be some bloodshed stalling the process.

Here's a question - has the blood already been shed?

I don't follow GalNet closely enough to know the answer, but have any senators been killed in the last month that might turn out in retrospect have been swing votes? Maybe someone was planning for an eventual vote well in advance?

No - at least not reported in Galnet. Kahina Loren vanished, but that has other reasons. It wouldn't matter anyway because nobody knows how many Senators the Senate is comprised of.

Who cares what happens in your white iphony shiny slavey Empire. New Emperor? Pfff... We are getting two ugly greenish fed bricks to fly tomorraw :D

A voting w/o bloodshed is no voting at all :D ... Bread and Circus, etc.

Oh - I'd actually appreciate if Arissa, Patreus, Aisling and Torval all died in the upcoming "red wedding" - they're all terrible.

We all know that's not going to happen though - panem et circenses or not.

... lady kahina comes back from the outer rim. she rushes into the senat. election is stopped. the game has changed ...

What if President Halsey's ship just warps above the Senate building and crushes the whole Senate and she becomes empress... That would be very confusing and a major plot twist!

sounds like possible twist, i only think: halsey can't get empress, if there is no senat to elect her. maybe some kind of time travel warp paradox applies here?
