Drew's tricky Elite quiz, separating the Jamesons from the Ryders

I'd have to take a stab at Ross 780 then.

Right on, Commander!

Q5. All ships in FE2 had registration numbers. What was the number of the original Eagle you started with?

Oh, the registration numbers! How come we don't have registration numbers and names now? Anything to make the ship that keeps our CMDRs alive something more than an anonymous lump of durasteel and exotic elements to be traded in and blown up without a second thought.

Q1. Which original Elite ship featured a wing-folding technique?
The Adder. It was the Pratt and Whitney wing-folding system, wasn't it?

*oops* Didn't see that this was now a multi-page thread with other questions.

Thargoid captains reportedly had their fear glands removed.

No idea about the precursor to witchspace drives.

ADDER - Manufactured by Outworld Workshops, a rogue breakaway company from Spalder and Prime Inc. which operates without license from an unknown location, the Adder-class craft has dual atmospheric-spatial capability and is often used by smugglers. Pregg's " wingfolding " system permits landing on planetary surfaces. Carries one missile.

Drew.

alcubierre drive??

It might be based on that, but it has a specific name in Elite lore.

Drew.

Points to CMDR Zack!

Q7. Prior to the Witch-Space drives used in the original Elite game, what was the hyperspace drive called?

The general class was just a hyperdrive wasn't it? There was a specific model mentioned for the Cobra Mk III though, is that what you mean? I have no recollection what that was.
