The whole Aisling is freeing the slaves thing should come with a grain of salt;

Her factions in Ngun, Eta Horologii, & Kuyu don't free slaves, they gift them to Aisling to "do as she pleases with them"

"As members of Aisling Duval's de factor court, this group have been openly showing their support for Aisling's movement by buying large numbers of Imperial Slaves and gifting them to the Princess to do with as she sees fit."

And her faction in Cemiess

"This Faction operates as an extension of the Imperial Princess' will. Their number have been recently begun being bolstered by liberated slaves who have chosen to become the Princess' servants in order to repay her from freeing them from bondage"

One has to wonder three things
Does she actually free everyone, since they are gifted to her to do as she sees fit?
How much of a choice is it to Serve her after she frees them
What happens to the ones who do not choose to serve her, off to the streets you go it seems

It is one thing to take on the slaves to save face, another to show them off in such a fashion.

And she keeps the "Cherubs" despite outlawing everyone else in her control systems owning Imperial Slaves.

Today is the last day of deliberation for the Senate over the question of the next Emperor.

Sadly their choice seems to be which vice and corruption to they want to reign

  • HH Arissa and her Zero tolerance totalitarianism reminiscent of Domitian, soon Lèse-majesté?
  • HIH Aisling, the socialite who cares, no she really does.... so long as she looks good doing it; where the social conscious is a fashion statement, instead of nobilis oblige
  • Senator Patreus, unfettered greed, using debt and private military to force non citizens into imperial bondage. The constant need to expand, to feed new resource into the core from conquered subject, when the true imperial citizens stagnate in their tax free, but jobless homes.
  • Senator Torval, whose followers rely too much on the toil of slavery they themselves have become hedonistic and decedent.

  • The Emperors Dawns, seemingly Ultra nationalist, seeking to remove the existing bureaucracy and carve up the Empire into their own little fiefdoms where they can rule with unchecked Power, but have a Figurehead Emperor to legitimate them, and to over throw when things go wrong.


All logical corruptions of the Constitution Monarchy the Empire has evolved into when you take the ideals or vice to the extreme.
All claim to uphold the traditions and old ways but which truly remembers what they are

Mahon and Aisling is just too "ewww....", even for a Space Banana to contemplate.
It might be really interesting if something like that did happen, as in how would it affect supporters of Aisling and would they switch to ALD or one of the others to remain aligned the Empire...or maybe stick it out because they all love their little Princess, even if branded traitors.

I'm not sure there will be a new Emperor / Empress yet to be fair but something pretty bad would probably need to occur for the process to be stalled. Mind you, I did see "clear majority" in a related Galnet article so maybe the Imperials can have a "bloodless" major event every once in a while.
Something to look forward to though anyways.

Possibly, I'm thinking more a long the lines of Arrissa wins grand prize, Blaine says they're all traders, blasts Patreus with lightning and makes him mostly 'armless then (yes I'm going to say it again) gets to throw giant frisbees at small green Jedi.

I disagree with you, my bitter friend. Patreus definitely seems to be endorsing the old ways. As for tradition . . . the more things change, the more they stay the same.
We have come far since the initial colonization of Achenar and our victory over the Federal oppression.
In fact, we are swollen, almost as if pregnant.
It could very well be that there will be more than one Emperor in the future and more than just a single entity called The Empire.

Is there any pristine metallic ring sytsem within alisas space? I gues I foudn the issue why no one stays here. I have so far not found one. But other factions do have them. So all you can do at alisa is missions and trading. Quite boring with time.

There is a CMDR bobblehead, a David Braben bobblehead and a Patreus bobblehead.

Since CMDR and D. Braben won't become Emperor and Patreus is the only "Power" as a bobblehead (Aisling bobblehead would be a much bigger seller) I bet that he will be the next Emperor.

All imperial CMDRs will want to buy one to be able to bask all the time in his bobbliness.
