The Star Citizen Thread v 3.0

I personally would have waited till Friday to release this blog, to make sure CIG does not have time to change anything, not that I think CIG have enough time to change it anyway.

Excuse me, but where does this 20K coffe maker story come from ?

Hmm...

Let's see if it unfolds as he predicted (or maybe he has insider info)...

Also, an interesting bit if someone's going for a refund:

Source: comments of the above mentioned article.

I don't think this will prove anything. Items 1,2 and 3 anyone could figured out alone, after the last spectrum dispatch. 2 can mean he know someone, however

Wow, just wow...every time another punch is thrown it just...wow

CitizenCon ought have a fast follow release to backers. I think showing things won't be enough now.

He's sure that they can't anymore. Think about it, what could he change? He could NOT show the A-List actors, but they're certainly already booked (if true at all of course).
CR can't forcibly release something that isn't somewhat ready, and if it was ready he would've released it anyway. He can't not show something that was planned just to make one less bulletpoint appear on that list.

I think it was fine to post that list now, if it is true. If it isn't, then that would be good for Star Citizen and the backers.

I really really dread what would happen if he is right however.

Maybe DS is being kinda genuine in giving CIG a chance to adjust and prove him wrong. Maybe DS wants to be proven wrong and we don't end up in this situation with a lot of angry and hurt gamers. I mean, what are the greater industry ramifications in light of a complete collapse of CIG?

Hmm interesting to see if what DS said they'll show at CtiCon actually comes out true.

Also I don't really give a kitten about A-list actors in computer games... I'm interested in work done on Star Marine and the PU.

Ummm everything he mentions in his article about CitCon is pretty much what CIG has been pointing too themselves.

FYI: A-lister actors was a stretch goal, so can't really blame them for fulfilling a stretch goal.

It would kill crowdfunding dead I reckon.

That's my fear. I think a lot of great things have come out of crowd funding, especially in the indie PC game space. I would hate to see future, well-intentioned and highly capable devs be shut out after such a debacle.

LOL, no...
You probably missed a part in that article where he says he's already started multiple law suits against CIG back in 08/2015.

Nah, but it would surely end in books.

I did, fair point. Well, I hope he is wrong, anyhow.

But the claims laid bare in front of CIG that haven't been adequately rebutted are really piling up and it certainly doesn't look good.

I simply think that crowdfunding would take a serious hit it would probably never recover from IF Star Citizen were to go belly up. It's been touted as the biggest CF'd game project in history, and were it to collapse the it would become the biggest CF failure in history. Nobody wants to see that happen, and most people don't seem to really understand what CF even is, but treat it as some form of early access bonus.

Actually if CIG goes under, I could see it helping crowdfunding. As it currently stands, many projects fail, for a many types of reasons. It could make potential backers look more closely at projects and be more objective on evaluating them. But people are stupid, most will assume CIG failed because of DS, or because we didn't clap hard enough, and not because of CIG. People will assume they are smarter then the "fools" that backed SC, and their project could never end up like that. The end result could be that kickstarter and government organisations will start looking more closely at possible scams.

This is actually the flip side of it that I was thinking of.

Would such a thing create a more scrupulous backer or would it discourage people from being backers.

Personally, ED, SC and a local doughnut shop are the only things I've ever given crowd-funding to and it is because I only recently have disposable income and have always been very skeptical of the whole thing to begin with.

1)They are going to parade all the A-List actors – all of whom cost a ton of money – for SQ42. This despite the fact that that stand-alone game is reported to be almost fifteen months away.
2)They are going to show the opening cut-scene sequence for SQ42 with Gary Oldman giving his speech, someone flying and landing, NPCs waving etc.
3)They are going to show Star Marine. Again. It’s still a mess – and nowhere ready for production release. Reports tell me that if it gets released before year end, it would be a miracle.
4)They are going to show multi-crew. Again. Problem now is that, as of the last report I got, it doesn’t run smoothly at all. And so they are now running the demo on super computers with 16 cores, loads of memory etc. Again, not production release ready.

Well we can wait few more days and see if his right about it but I am very convinced that DS have some inside informer,no doubt......If he is right and CIG do this kind of presentation on CitCon then it's clear that they doing everything to get more money on Demos&commercials and famous Actors and of course more concept art and sales.....no actual game-play for backers and still very lame FM in boring arena commander that as we speak is not been touched at all...this CIRCUS will reach new level very soon!!!

Yeah, I think that if (IF) they fail it could be a good thing in the grand scheme of things. Not only backers would become more aware of what they're backing and how much, but it would also made companies be more careful of what they're promising and how they deliver the promised.
