If they really haven't got any decent dogfighting ready to go, do something cool like fly up to a Gas Giant and actually enter its atmosphere. Or do the same with Earth, and land.

The game footage of the dogfighting in the asteroid field did do a lot of good, but yes, we need more. Still, I saw improvements, changing to the company logo and having Michael Brookes stop in and talk helped...I think a lot of the angst comes from frustration and fear of the project not making it, perhaps thinking DB isn't doing enough.
In the worst case scenario, I would hope DB opens up funding on the site, and even if it does slip past and get funded I seriously suggest allowing pledging to continue for awhile afterwoods, especially when funded you can spend more on development and therefore show progress.

Agreed. My faith in DB hasn't waivered and i'll be here to the end, but then again i'm a fan... and now FD have to court the non-fans. Constant interaction and information are the best ways of doing that.
I think we, as fans, need to listen to Chris Roberts' comment as well "having stuff to show people, that we're proud of, takes time. You can't do it in an hour". DB isn't going to release naff-looking pre-alpha videos to the general public if he isn't convinced they're good enough quality. However, i agree with the sentiments of others that the info released doesn't necessarily have to be gameplay footage... just some nice vids of the Frontier Munchkins hard at work, slaving over drawings and CAD renderings would go a long way to reassure existing backers, as well as draw in those on the fence by knowing FD are already beavering away
As it's been said before, Elite is DB's baby. He wants to make this game quite obviously, and must realise his reputation, the reputation of Frontier Developments and the Elite franchise as a whole hinges on the success or failure of the Kickstarter campaign. I hate to say it, but if the Kickstarter fails, i can't see an Elite game being made ever again.
There's a lot on the line indeed with this Kickstarter project. David Braben clearly realises that, but I'm not entirely sure he knows what to do about it...
After watching the interview, I got the impression he is a bit lost as to how to approach this KS. Much of what he said was very unspecific. And the ideas he did have were in regards to current fans as opposed to getting new fans.
