That could be arranged.... if you pay for my license and compensation for emotional damage. Come on, you know you want to, you get a shiny fishtank... :D

Backing Star Citizen really is not so bad. After a while, you will learn to be patient. There's no more pain. Just acceptance. And gratitude. For the loving care of our dear leader. Come join us.

Thanks to Mr Nowak (couldn't rep as you've had too much from me!) and that code I thought I'd try and see what SC was like for myself. I registered and started the big download, thing is my missus complained she couldn't access anything via her laptop....I checked things out but couldn't find a reason..until I paused the SC download and she could access the net. Anyone know why this is? I don't get this issue when I'm downloading Steam games. I get similar d/l speeds from Steam and the SC launcher (5mb or so).

Appreciate it. I think the SC launcher does use Peer to Peer. So you could be both downloading and uploading at max speeds which depending on your router/modem could halt the connection. It's not the usual case but I saw it with other occasions when I was using a downloader.

Be careful fish tanks need cleaning. It's a specialist job, particularly with tropical fish. People are on holiday will need their fish fed. Broken glass from combat will need a glazier and of course a fish shop for new fish. Cleaner, feeder, glazier, shop owner and an angler to get the fish in the first place. I see now why you need 5 new citizens!

Right oh, I'll have to d/l when we're not online (it also stopped my own browser working!)

Yeah there was a guy spamming sub-reddits with referral codes earlier.

A friend once convinced me to go to a presentation evening where they were trying to sign people up on this scheme where you had to sell on cosmetics and sign up all your friends and their friends into selling these items. They showed videos of people claiming they were living comfortable lives and endless holidays abroad because they had done this.

The referal scheme just reminds me of those kinds of tactics, but of course I'm sure its fine just like the P2W system. It's all fine when it's funding something you think you want right?

I'm expecting RSI to release blind bag mystery packs next. Pledg $500 and randomly get 60 fish tanks or 10 hornets.

Referral systems are nothing new. I used it a lot in Eve Online. Also ''Those kind of tactics''?

Yes, that's called "multi-level marketing". I had one of those evenings too, when we were invited to a nice board-game party that later turned into a creepy sales pitch for vitamin supplements.

Oh, btw, it's STAR-7KRX-92K6 .

Every recruit gets a free tour of my Constellation and fishtank.

Wasn't there a bug in the hangar module a year or so ago, where some alien crab escaped from backers' fish tanks?

I thought that was great, truly amusing and unexpected :D

Sure I'll throw £40 at a game which may or may not be completed and if it is, may or may not be any good.

Really struggling to see why anyone would pre-order at this stage.

I had the exact same problem, missus and all. Turns out you can adjust the maximum download speed, that helped.
Also be ready to add a custom user.cfg because nauseating motion blur is turned on by default and it looks like you can't turn it off in the client.

Oh I know what you're talking about, because I've been to one such convention some 15-16 years ago.
It was for the company "Amway", a "multi-level no middle-man" sales business for home care and beauty products.
I never went with that, but some of my friends did...and it was a short adventure where they bothered everyone else to death with it, got some laughable pocket money from miserable sales and finally quit after a few months...not realizing the company used them as sales person, who under normal conditions have normal pay for that kind of work.

Because it will be 60 later on. It's way cheaper now. Also Squadron 42 will split after launch. Which means it will cost money too. My estimates are about 60 dollars for all 3 episodes (About 60-90 hours of gameplay). So in total SC could very well turn in to a 120 dollar game. If you hop in right now it is 45 dollars. If you hopped in on earlier it was 35 and at a certain sale even 25 dollars.

Those who truly believe in the team and the project already knew this was going to be big. That's why they backed so early. I backed October 2012 knowing that some day this game will be huge.

Post from Sean Tracy about the Squadron 42 shown content quality

Hey guys,

Just wanted to chirp in here as I've been pushing our pipeline forward.
So you guys are aware we produced 15 MORE characters than Ryse shipped with, in about 4 months (faces). Having worked at Crytek and on Ryse stuff I have a very good idea of the time each of these characters usually gets and comparing up against Ryse won't bring us out on top quite yet as we are far from completed (and thus why you don't have SQ42 in your hands!)
The main thing is that most faces takes about a year to complete perfect. You are seeing Bishop who got only a few weeks compared to a year of work.

The other very obvious (but overlooked fact) that the comparisons to Ryse are a bit skewed because most of the cutscenes are pre-rendered (not real time) and in fact we used a different technology (called Cinebox) to render the cutscene videos for Ryse back at Crytek.
So keep in mind SC will run in REAL TIME with the cutscene rendering on your PC not before hand so that there is zero texture shock between cutscene and gameplay.

I agree with you on this, i came in later, but i still got it cheaper than it will be, i started with the more expensive Aurora package (i could have got the basic one cheaper, pic below) and later got another free account, the AMD Mustang, with my graphics card purchase.

One thing to note, $45 is only £29+, whilst to buy it now it is $54, = £35, si saved all of £6 buy buying it almost 2 yrs ago, not a lot, but i have had other benefits, such as hanger flair, and a total of 20,000 rec to spend in game.

How do you know it's going to be 60 <units of unspecified currency>?

When does it go to this price?
