OMG! You can make 20+Mil Cr per Hour, if you didn't realise.

If it's about enjoyment then surely if they reduce the amount it won't change your enjoyment?

Reduce the time the missions have to be completed in I say to less than 1 hour, will signifcantly reduce stacking and the ability to wait/mode swicth for new missions.

but that WILL reduce the enjoyment as without stacking you'll have significantly less NPCs trying to interdict you, meaning far less excitement (if any at all), meaning a far less interesting or enjoyable experience. the whole point of this is it's tense because of the amount of NPCs trying to murder you while you cross 300-400ly of space for a pretty hefty profit. make it only one mission at a time and flying 400ly for 5mil doesn't have any tension as a) the stakes are significantly lower (i.e. very low for the vast majority of people who can get these missions) and the risk even lower with very few NPCs, you've just sucked the fun out of it. nerfing this is killing it

I was hoping to find a valuable thread on smuggling, and some of it is here...

Then I found words like exploit, hacks, and the worst - "end-game ship"

...

smh. I've been playing about 6 months almost now.

Never went "above" an Asp besides my attempts at the clipper. Why? None of those big ships interest me.

My cobra, dbs, dbx, and now courier do(did) their part in powerplay, even pvp when the mood strikes me.

My asp and adder for mining.

All of them play their parts on the BB.

What "end-game ship" ? You mean those massive ones that are slow?

It honestly reminds me beating up ferraris in my kit car. They got upset at the "costs" too.

I don't care if these missions pay 1/5th they do now. They are some of the most fun I've had in this game.

It kills me my Internet went snafu lol. Not for the credits. What do I need them for?

But for the lols my friends and I have enjoyed running these "Kessel runs!" I haven't even been to Sothis yet!

Tldr - plz keep the gameplay around regardless of whatever else happens.

+rep.

I love cutting up 'Condas with my Vulture.

I am also saving up for a mining Python and maybe a 'Conda in future... but there is no 'end game' per se. Unless somebody found the single player campaign and didn't tell us ;)

The big downside to these very profitable missions is that within 10 hours you will be be to afford the most expensive ship in the game. In other words, the value of that ship and other ships (and anything else in the universe) just went down. And I don't think that is a good thing.

If you can afford it all, there is no risk, no "looking forward to" no "dream to once own a..". Just the pale repetitive reality.

The game already has these ridiculous low repair costs, the rebuy system ( no it is not insurance) and the low fuel costs. Well, soon we might have cargo "insurance" as well. happy flying guys ;)

Done 2 of these runs now. Both took approx 5hrs to complete inc toilet and food breaks. Oh and acknowledging the existance of the wife and kid.
1-2 hrs stacking the missions hardly mode switched only did as i thought the mode had bugged out on me. The other 2 or so hours spent delivering. You need multi drop experience for this lol.

Its actually been really fun and infuriating at the same time.

Fun - i have learnt to route plan effeciently. How to avoid being interdicted and with that getting a decent adrenal dump int my system.

Infuriating - the incessant none stop interdictions that happen from the same npc once they get you that one time.

All in all i hope they leave it. Ill probably do 1 or 2 more runs then leave it and head back to my home system 600ly away and go back to playing the bgs and pvp.

You can easily fix that by making the individual missions harder, which I'm all for.

Frontier:

- Don't change the fact that these missions exist.
- Don't change the payout.

- Only change the delivery systems so they aren't next to each other. Problem solved.

Seriously, have a smuggling mission take you to the opposite side of empire space, another to alliance space, and another to fed space, and vice versa. Scatter these suckers out and suddenly it won't be 20 mil an hour, but all the fun will still be there and the risk / reward will be balanced due to the incredibly long journey.

Heck, I'd still do these missions just to get a 'tour de galaxy'

Personally speaking I'm simply amazed at how many pirates from here to the core worlds seem to want my bio waste! :D
(I reckon they've got a secret station somewhere where they grow giant tomatoes or.... somethin' ;))

Just wondering if FD have done this on purpose!

Seen Galnet for possible new CG - reinvigoration of Sothis...

https://community.elitedangerous.com/galnet/uid/561f7b109657badb5a202699

Sirius corp on spending spree. Could explain things.

On my way back to sothis i dropped in at HIP 8396, the sector mentioned in Galnet. No signs of a communtiy goal atm. The only station is called Stepping Stone Base, which, I guess, describes its purpose quite well.

I wonder what Sirius Corp want out there in Sothis anyway? I can´t believe they do it just for the lulz. Why claim a sector 400 ly from civilized space? There has to be something about it. Did i miss on that?

lol What npcs?

All you see is "PLEASE DROP DOWN I HAVE A MESSAGE FOR YOU'

"HELLO I HAVE COME TO KILL YOU OH WAIT I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO GET BEHIND YOU!"

Although ironically the more popular this gets the worse i'm finding the 'fun' factor.... last night i did another small batch and saw in both private group & open the station was stacked....... but on my way back i was getting almost no chasing .... maybe 3rd or 4th previous amounts..... seems once the servers get loaded up they scale the AI / NPC's back .... when i did my 1st run it was early UK time and the station was quiet but the NPC's were going mental after me .... last night it was exact opposite ... humans aplenty but no NPC's chasing

^ I wonder if more people can back up your findings. I did a run yesterday, and had definitely 1/5th the pirates on my tail. This made dodging interdictions at stars super easy (I like to make pirates run into the stars, but this isn't possible if you have 5-6 chasing you). We definitely need to address this issue if it's true the player load is what's causing a decline in NPCs.

I am a big fan of content like this, hope they do more, but yeah... definitely need that challenge back or this is just super high profits for no fun/risk/challenge.

There are other places much nearer than Sothis that you can use this method take make millions of creds. Sothis is way too far out.

What amazes me is why everyone's going to Sothis. You don't need to go anywhere like that far out to get the decent paying missions. They might not pay 4-8MCr, but being able to run 2-3MCr missions 3x in the same amount of time is just as profitable.

BEcause we don't go to "Sothis". We go to "Sothis and neighbouring systems", which allows you to get the missions you want without abusing the mode change exploit, at the cost of a bit of fuel and some hairy landings.
It's actually not *that* far, it's 16-20 jumps.

Don't tell that to nerfers. They seem to think that once you get a Conda nothing is left but to uninstall the game.

Exactly. Also, a base Anaconda... really sucks. People seem to think you can just buy the 140m Anaconda and #gameover. Good luck with that.

A combat Anaconda will cost 500M. A fully kitted out Anaconda is $1b.

1.5's ships is bringing more ships.

A combat anaconda is really a "tankaconda." It is not great for really fun PvP, you will probably kill nothing but NPCs with a death wish, you need something that can move. This means you need a badass Anaconda... AND an FDL.

Come 1.5, then what? What about Horizons and planets? Do people really think that the Anaconda will remain the most expensive ship?

What about the 2,000 cargo space Panther Clipper? I suspect that's going to be quite $$$. What about the Fed Corvette?

Right now, "end game" money in ED is about 1-1.5 billion credits IMO. Then you have no more need for credits.

Come 1.5 and horizons, I am expecting 10b credit "endgame" for credits. This will likely continue.

I expect to eventually own an entire planet or station in this game. Sorry for anyone who thinks the end of ED is buying an Anaconda. Pfft.

oooh, just cruising up to sothis mining and my discovery scanners says new object found.....fair enough 113k ls away. no idea what it is- don't recall seeing that before.

and a conda a fitted is not even nice to fly...

Here's a noobish question: Why Sothis? Is it because it's waaay out there and you can pretty much only get long-range missions?

That's my best guess...

(sorry if it has been discussed already...don't want to read through 400 posts)
