Update on Alpha 3.0

Where has this been stated by FD?

I queried Ashley from Support, as he said as far as he knows there's no other 2.0 release planned.

If you take Michael's announcement with straight face, it just says that "next alpha release". So it means 2.02 is followed by 3.0 :)

Since I'm feeling particularly neurotic this morning, I would just like to jump the gun to quote myself and say - neener neener neener, I told y'all so!

I'm noticing a pattern that each "phase" lasts approximately one month long. First Alpha was about a month with an update, Multiplayer Alpha seems like it will last a month with an update on the way, then Docking/Fitting will probably last a month, so on and so forth.

I'm guessing the Docking/Fitting will start in March, then April will be Travel & Trading..May will probably be the start of Beta 1. Beta 1 will probably have a few phases of it's own that last a month each (maybe 3 phases to bring us to June & July). August will probably be Beta 2, then Gamma release in September.....say, isn't there some sort of anniversary in September?

Myeeeeeeah, sheeeeee..

I will humbly accept apologies for the vast amount of ignoring I received :p

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
I CAN NOT WAIT!!!! Docking or as I call it... crashing.

Me either! As we used to say back in my Cessna piloting days, piloting is hours of boredom punctuated by a few minutes of sheer terror. ;)

I remember one day, I was flying alone (not long after my first solo!) and it was just windy as all get out. The strip had a nasty crosswind over it and I must've done like 2 or 3 go-arounds. (Where you get close to landing but you have to call it off before touching down). I was a sweating, nervous wreck. I kept thinking "I'm never going to land this thing in one piece. I'm going to die up here! Run out of gas circling the airfield or make a crater on landing..."

But it worked out in the end. ;)

Just watched some Cesna crosswind vids, well done. It truly does look sphincter-tightening.

Did made me think of a Billy Connolly sketch from a while back, talking about how a flight attendant's safety speech would be if it was truthful.
Billy Connolly said:
In the highly unlikely event of loss of power in all 4 engines, in all probablility, we will go into the ground like a ****ing dart!
:D

3 weeks !!

only 3 weeks and the world will never be the same...

...what ?

i just said that for alpha 2.0 ?

... hmm..

well...

3 weeks and the world will never be the same, ONCE MORE ! :D

:p

I find that slightly strange. There's a lot that needs fixing. I guess they maybe want to iron it all out in the beta?

Maybe I'm being naive as I'm not in Alpha, but is each Alpha release a distinct entity? What's to rule out any problems from 2.02 being fixed in 3?

According to FD Alpha v3 will contain lots of fixes to problems raised in Alpha v2.2 as well as adding functionality. Alpha v2.0 contained the same scenarios as Alpha v1 with the addition of multi-player.

So the "Alphans" will likely be able to pew-pew for a while then scrape their battered vessel against a space station docking port. :)

No news yet on whether the fluffy dice will be included in outfitting!

T.j thank you for the information. If the rhythm is confirmed in practice, the gamma will be for the summer and the commercial version towards the end of the year, as recently planned. Excellent

I'm sure it's a deliberate incentive to get commercial multi-platform release out for September anniversary.
Beta 1- April, Beta 2- May.
Gamma June.
Total 3 month extra work than kickstarter plan.

(bonus prediction for Beta 2: 50,000 backers £2.75m raised.)
