Potato-cooked?

So, we have really beautiful ships, amazing jaw dropping environment, massive really thoughtfully built space stations, that you sometimes just fly around and admire it all.
But than to view it, you have a potato debug camera. It is edible but barely.

Please FD hear me, and at least cook it some more, or make some tasteful dish out of this potato.

And one unrelated question: Is it possible to bind two keys to preform single action? For instance, when one of those two is pressed game executes bound action.

In your control menu you have two keybind options. One slot is usually used for the controller, but you can bind a different key to it.
For example: Chaff/ keybind1=C | keybind2=F1 ......Either one will/should fire chaff.
It works for me.

Yes, debug camera is quite poorly implemented.

I personally would prefer if I could maneuver my ship while having other keys to control the camera.

What problems do you have precisely with moving the camera?

If you can give some details, I might be able to offer some tips and suggestions.

you can bind a single action to a key combo. I saw a video of a guy explaining his keyboard layout and he said he had his pips set to SHIFT+wasd. So engines were shift+w, sys was shift+a, weapons were shift+d and reset was shift+s. So apparently he figured it out.

And the debug camera is slow and cumbersome as to prevent people from using it in combat as a sneak peak. The only reason FD put the debug cam in was because some players wanted to take pretty selfies against cool backdrops. It was never meant to be a third person cam to fly around with. So don't expect any improvements on the debug cam. Its working exactly how FD wants it to work.

In the game settings for controls there are two columns, so you can bind each action to two different keys (or key combinations), I have my chaff, FSD, SCB, throttle, etc bound to a button on my controller and on my keyboard because sometimes it is more convenient to hit the one over the other.

It was designed this way so that it couldn't be used for advantage in game, for example to allow otherwise unobtainable views in combat etc.

I like potatoes!:(

it would be great if you just gave some tips anyways, as you make such widely regarded videos.

But it I would like to be able to capture:
1) Fly bys.
2) Maneuvers.
3) landings
4) Formation flying.

It's been done... Trick is to have either
1) Sidewinder (or Clipper)
2)Friends
(Not related to. Your numbers)

I want an "awesome selfie" camera, not a debug camera. So being able to move the ship would be cool.
Disable use of weapons or non-obligatory modules to avoid combat exploiting then. Problem solved.

You won't be able to capture any of that for your own ship. You can 'fake' the fly-by to a limited extent, and make a hodge-podge job of a landing. If you want to truly capture that stuff you will need to film another player whilst you fly and Imperial Clipper (it has the best canopy for this) to record their maneuvers with. I've never done any of this, and simply try and avoid filming that type of stuff.

As for controlling the camera itself, it fly's in exactly the same way as your ship. Start thinking of is as a mini-ship - it will help a lot.

Thank you all for the replay, even those that are not quoted. I did not know that there is a second column in the settings menu. Perhaps because it is all black, and my mouse never flew over it. And I never checked that in the manual. My mistake.

I love potatoes you insensitive clod!
I never said that they are bad, I just don't like eating them raw, hehe.

Not being able to fly in third person is essential for this game. What is needed is a little faster movement, and perhaps being able to zoom out a little further (only then you get a real filling of the shear size of the station when near it). I really really like the outside of the ships, but what is the purpose of it all if not for looking at it.
I know the problems with exploitation, but what can you possibly gain. Isn't there a radar for this purpose? But than again I deploy my weapons only when I am being annoyed by those pesky pirates, so not an expert on that field.
