Code blockading Sothis

I'm starting to think CODE is a science experiment designed to determine whether or not it's possible to get banned by FD. For science!

I was told leave or die...

I didn't leave, and I didn't die.

They aren't very good at delivering on their ultimatums, are they?

Like you i was told same thing, i didn't even bother to acknowledge just flew straight on to Station

Bunch of lily livered wimps....Pirates Pah! seen more scary teddy bears than that lot!

BTW, i wondered why i never saw them on the way out, then i remembered after swapping tween open/solo to spawn missions, i went out in Solo DOH!

Pirates do pirate each other.

The Code's presence should make things even more interesting - a real challenge instead of hopeless low rank NPC. Just dock somewhere close by e.g. Ceos, Takurua then you will respawn not too far away if there is an issue.

Unable to deal with the influx of criminal behaviour in Sothis, Sothis Security has made a controversial move hiring a fledging rag tag group of pirates who were twiddling their thumbs to deal with the problem, to institute a blockade.

Chief Constable of Sothis Security Hugh Vaughan told our reporter: "Yeah, they're not that effective, but they're cheap and have a wonderful dress sense".

Made my day that :D

Enfin !

That is an intriguing story I want to hear about !

Can't rep you more than I already have. :(

+1 anyway ! ;)

While these blockade chaps and chapesses are patrolling the seas around Sothis in their gunboats, I'm happily tootling around in my submarine over 200ly away making much the same money but traveling far less distance.

So it's actually happened then? So many power-traders got fed up with the piracy/RP/griefing that they all switched to private groups? Now why would they do that... ;)

It would be quite fun if it turns out that Frontier did this by design, to really figure out if Code is a group of griefers that only harm the game, or actual a group of player pirates... :)

Actually I think so many heard how bad Code is at seeing the "leave or die" threat through, folks are back in open just laughing at them.

Well seeing as we are going to be there producing "Emergent Game play and storyline"

How about you guys decide how we interact with you? Seems only fair doesn't it.

You have two choices, Only Two.

1) We fly in as we are in underspec'd ships, have fun and throw a little role play around how the influx of smuggling to Sothis has reduced the normal trade routes and caused a down turn in viable pirating targets in our home systems.

2) We fly around in our normal ships, do the same and greatly reduce the chance of Elite players in their A Rated Uberships from just crawling back into SC and into port.

Will the blockade work and stop all Smuggling, absolutely not. Do we have any illusion that it will.. No.

Is it something we want to do because its a damn sight more interesting than ANYTHING else 1.4 gave us. ( Including CQC which is so easy it because boring VERY quickly ) YES, Yes it is!

You are welcome.

Does 2 require you to fly back and change ships?

In that case I choose 2.

I don't think so, there are just a lot more places traders can go to. It's just that rare trading isn't that interesting anymore with all the smuggling missions available all over the bubble. I guess that's the reason why The CODE is trying to make Sothis a no-go-area. If CMDRs start to learn how to smuggle "low value" goods in fast ships the pirates get a problem.

I understand why The CODE is against this, but I think their blockade is completely futile. Sothis is just a system among a lot of systems. Nobody has to go there to make a lot of credits. The only CMDRs they will be able to drive away or kill are unexperienced CMDRs who just do the flavor of the month activity.

OK, after being mostly on topic, could we please jump directly to the usual PR disaster. I like that part in The CODE threads it's highly entertaining. And I'm still missing some references to "lions" and other animal related metaphors of virility and power.

Then when you've flown back and changed ships, I choose 1 :D

EDIT: I'm sure when you flown back and changed ships again, Ziggy will insist on choosing two, meaning you'll have to fly back and change ships again ...

That's the idea isn't it, Ziggy? :p

So the Code are in Sothis warning everyone to leave... I don't have any issues with them role playing, do they really think they are all ace combat pilots? I'm in a tooled up A spec'd Python, also have an A spec Clipper and Anaconda stationed out here... some guy tells me to 'Leave or Die!' I just kinda chuckled to myself and docked at Newholm as normal..

Are they really? not very effective considering I have been in and out several times and not seen a single one. Oh yes, that would be because I play in a private group where we can avoid such chevos. Code and their like are only effective and/or relevant if you let them be.

Really? Your 'role play' is that you, a criminal, want other criminals to stop being criminals, so there are more non-criminals to rob? I vote for option #3 btw: don't care either way. You seriously think anyone cares if you bring your mighty A-ship? I might go to Sothis just to point and laugh at you guys, or I could just move to one of the many, many other systems who offer these missions.
