Well...they have to catch me first. :D But no, I don't. After all, to me, it's only a game and just Monopoly money anyway. There's more of everything where that came from. Don't get me wrong though. I don't promote any of the modes over the other. The only reason I play in Open is I refuse to let a bunch of children run me out. As the song goes...you can't take the sky from me.

It is just a game, and games used to mean enjoyment. I'm not sure when the definition changed.

I've learned when swimming that you can stay in the deep End and avoid the kiddy pool.

Interesting that you reference Firefly, yet Mal and crew kept to the Outer Rim and away from the core worlds.

You can't do anything against them if they are in Open Mode because of:
- instancing
- time zones
- Xbox

Control is an illusion. It's not part of the game.

Player have to accept that in Open they can get attacked at anytime without any obvious in-game reasons. Players have to accept that players in Solo Mode and Private Group Mode and on Xbox can affect the background simulation.

That's the way the game is. Accept it and the game will become much more fun.

The ninjas that post obvious stuff faster than I can post it.

It is funny how one side things we need to accept their way of play, yet they cannot accept ours.

Ever tried fortifying your systems?
It's very good at countering undermining and you can do it in Solo, Group or Open - fun for all :)

So simple... but is refused because that's not the way THEY want the game to be...

aww, poll is closed?
i'd love to see open being only pve :) i'm only playing in small private groups and lately in the Mobius pve group to not have to deal with some "pirates"

The poll was very short sighted anyway, so it doesnt matter really.

I'd like to see ghosted open play ships in solo, so there is only a thin vail between the realms.

Then I can peek beyond the illusion to see the other side...

Personally I think it is those saying Open is such a "risk" that they need rewards that no one else gets because they are uber and play in Open are the ones supporting a total fallacy. Especially when those that are advocating for that claim to hate the "grind" they think solo is, yet admit that they used that "grind" to their benefit so they could have the uber ship in open.. therefore requesting rewards for a risk they claim is there yet they bypassed before decrying others who may follow in their footsteps.

Ok and i would do it all over again in open only, because it would be equal with everyone else.

Why would i punish myself when i can grind in solo easy mode while watching netflix and then pop over into Open like everyone else does and kill people over and over?

Anyways, I mean its part of the game and i'm over debating open & everything else I just enjoy slaughtering people now. Did you know that a sidewinder takes less than <5 seconds to kill even when fully shielded?

With the current networking system, not really. Even not taking into account the possibility of players manipulating the matchmaking, different players see very different results in Open, even when going to the same system, thanks to things like mutual latency and time zones.

Even timezones alone can already make a world of difference. Back when I was stuck on a PvP realm in WoW I had the choice of playing either before or after work; before work the server was so empty I've strolled unchallenged through the opposite faction's capitol more than once, while after work it was what you would expect of a high population realm.

I find the time-zone argument to be moot. You can stay up 24/7 to defend stuff - its up to you not the game blocking it.

also fun read on path of least resistance
