Came back to play after giving it a break for months, lost everything to an elite python in a normal trade run. I quit.

Strange behaviour. So it just was in the instance when dropping out and in of SC? If it had jumped into the wake and out into SC after you if would have been understandeble, but for a couple of limpets? Well, much can be done with the AI in this game. Or shall we say scripts :p I think it would be cool if some NPCs would be persistent and up for hire. Frontier has a gem of a game on their hands. Its already very good but with time and improvements it will get epic.

One instance was an emergency drop into a planet's rings, a DB explorer appeared directly in front of me. Half the ammunition from two small multi-cannons later, I gave up and rammed him into the next instance over! On two occasions evading the interdictor I dropped near a station, on both, the pirate opened up immediately, both exploded in a most satisfactory manner under the station guns. In none of these was I interdicted at the station. In one I had been pulled out, but A class shields and all power to engines got me away with no damage. The pirate immediately followed me back into supercruise, dying at the station.

I lost around 5 mil in metals run last night in the community goal, it was a challenging interdiction by an NPC, really cool. My complaint:

I should be compensated with some nifty graphics/cut-scene that makes my destruction more satisfying ;)

I'm also glad to hear that the OP is back in the fold.

There are way too many threads about 'Rage Quitting' on these boards already. There is some simple, sage advice that was given to me a long time ago -

NEVER FLY WHAT YOU CAN'T AFFORD

SOMETIMES YOU WILL WIN, SOMETIMES YOU WILL LOSE THAT'S BECAUSE IT'S A GAME.

You failed to mention the most important thing here. He was playing pledged to a powerplay power. Don't do that in a defenseless vessel.

I do that. It adds spice.

Besides, as several others have pointed out in this thread: if you know how to submit and high wake out of an interdiction, it is nearly impossible for anything short of a human player to kill you. If you have a ship that can turn and boost, (i.e.: not a T7) you ought to be able to escape players pretty easily too.

Hey commanders, OP here. Sorry it took me so long to reply to my ragerant. I had to get the mod to reopen it back up because I wanted to sort of apologize and also say thanks to those who gave very positive/informative replies about what I could have done better, and what has changed about the game since I last played. It is obvious I am not active on these forums and it looks like I signed up just ragequit.

Admittedly, I am quite embarassed that that is true >.<

I will also admit, that in my rage I left out the fact at how epic the experience actually was. I've cooled my jets and realized that my body was shaking and I felt a level of fear that I typically don't feel in games. As maddening as the experience was, and unfortunate (despite being cocky with my new toy), it was a good story to tell my friends about the next day. I also realized I miscalculated how much of a loss I was really taking.

Soooo!!! Thank you those who gave good replies, because you must be a good kind of person to offer a bit of yourself to someone who very obviously was rage-quitting. That says a lot about you, and something about the community too.

So my form of repayment for being a crybaby about it, and to respect those good peoples out there in this dangerous galaxy, I am already, and will be giving the game another chance with a more objective mindset. I have already taken this opportunity to trade my type 7 in to pay off my claim, and bought a cobra, completely kitted it out, and I still sit on about 6.5 mil.... rebuy is about 500k i think? I've opted out of powerplay for now until I can understand it better, and I will be dabbling about the galaxy doing whatever seems good at the time until I find a something more permanent thing to do.

And yes... I will probably still get horizons because im a sucker for planetary landings <3

Excellent. +1

Well it certainly is not supposed to be Elit:Hello Kitty. Consider the tag line [h=3]TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR OWN STARSHIP IN A CUT-THROAT GALAXY
[/h]This would imply that you have to consider some risks? The original Elite titles were far from easy, in fact, some of the hardest games out there. So get over it, the risk element is part of game.

And it is not common knowledge that interdiction is too difficult. Plenty of players have no trouble with it. Get over that as well.

Either you've been under a rock, or you've stopped playing Elite long enough to just come back to the forums since 1.4 hit. There have been dozens of threads here complaining that FD went way too far the other way with interdictions. Those that have no problem with them are either flying nimble ships, or don't mind the so called "challenge" of being interdicted every 5 seconds, with no chance to succeed.

Just to explain, as not everyone knows what is meant by "high wake"

@OP when people advise "high wake", they mean - jump to another system. You do not get mass locked if you jump out of your current system to another one and reduce the chance of being followed.

I did not know that, & very good to know. Too often I have tried to jump & it take minutes for the fsd to charge, can't wait to try the high wake maneuver

Bears repeating.

Indeed.

+1, but it's not really a challenge. The NPCs that pull you over are generally pretty squishy. The best challenge so far for me was 3 Imperial Eagles. They got past my shields and inflicted some minor damage to my hull before succumbing. Cost me a little chaff too. Other than that, it's been lone ships that eat a little laser power.

I'd like to see the interdiction spam reduced so we can play the actual game.

So what the op Basically telling us.

1 Did not take the time to see if the system he flying to Security has not change in the past months. For the worse due to some type of War near by.

2 Did not check the Notes from 1.3 to 1.4 to check to see what New like salvage and such and cqc.

He blaming Frontier for his error? Now he want a free ship.

I don't get people.

It's like they don't even read thread contents and just snipe at the first post, despite OP coming back and apologizing for being all crazytalk, and everyone repping them for stopping crying.

I'm just gonna say it, foruming is not for you.

Same boat. I totally evaded the interdiction but it filled up so fast it was impossible to evade. Lucky it was just an imperial eagle my T7 took care of it. Still those sorts of bugs and the fact they haven't done jack to improve exploration at all - ALL YEAR means I really don't have time to play the gong show for nothing. Its still a bloody mess all around Powerplay makes no sense in the scheme of the galaxy. I am looking forward to Horizons but I have a feeling it will be about as dry and boring as the rest of the game.

The new crafting idea though does intrigue me.. this could inject some originality and content to make some mundane jobs more worthwhile.

The issue, though, is when I'm in my pure trader, I'm unarmed, a risk I take, but I do have shields, to assist in my get away. Pre 1.4 that was enough, post 1.4 my shields are two shot, and I barely get away with 10% hull, and then get immediately interdicted again.

Another issue is server lag for those of us in the States. Causing the NPC's to auto win interdictions. Which, I believe, FD recognize and are working on.

Well It not like other games where the AI just runs home when they are out of range. The extra interdiction make players feel like they are being chased which is a good thing. You also have to check to see if that System security is High or low. If it low. It your fault not taking a safer Route.

I live in California and not getting this lag. You could be attack by a stronger weapon.
