CQC CQC - No, thank you.

So, I've decided to try CQC for the second time.

This was my first and only time playing this balance garbage after initial try. I am sorry for the language, but I have no better comment right now.

I was level 3, while there were guys lvl 41, 36 and 32. I mean, really? Game puts all player levels in the same battle?

And there is even statistic for the win/lose ratio in the main game stats? What would be my ratio if I haven't exited after 5 quick deaths?

I had a feeling like I am battling against Maus driving my BT-1 in World of Tanks. Even there that is not possible.

Uh...

First of all, this belongs in CQC discussion section.

Second of all, I guess those 41/36/32 guys have the skill of a level 3. It could be that you did well a few times and boosted your elo up to a bracket where it doesn't belong.

It's the F.A. Cup. You're Stevenage Town up against Manchester United. There is no loss in this situation, only a slight possibility of making history. Go for it!

CQC puts you in to the "Medium" score range to start with (I think it was something like 1400 hidden points), until you play a handful of games for it to adjust your score - it has no idea how good or bad you are and cannot match you with people your skill level.

Also, the level number shown does not equal skill level - that just shows they keep playing despite being bad at the game (if they get match with a "Medium" pilot at level 41 = they are not good players).
If anything it shows they have gear unlocked that they have no idea how to use properly - or they'd be in higher matches, not facing off with new players.

+1 For the WoT Reference. You can buy my Unicum account if you want as I only play ED now.

Back on topic though, at least you can get a game. Us here in the GMT+12 time zone never have people playing the game.

I just wish they took off that CQC rank on the bottom of my right panel,I'm glad they have that option put in for players who like that sort of thing....but I'm never going to play it.

It's not for everyone. With regards to matchmaking, it's a balance between "wah it's taking too long" and "wah I'm with players outside my skill range".

If it makes you feel any better I'm constantly put with players that generally havent figured out the CQC "metagame" as much as me. If it was more rigorous (or there were more players) I'd be matched more regularly with the dangerous pilots

Proably a silly question, but have you tried squadding up and going into TDM? the teamwork might give you a more even footing with experienced players

I must say I had much better experience in Team Death Match mode.
I was just expecting like lvl 1-6 to be a separate tear or something.

There is actually some balance in TDM, as it is easier to separate high and low level players this way.
I was even able to pull some tactics, like to pull enemy ships to target me while high level players kill them fast.

So for everyone wanting to try CQC for the first time - just go Team DM.

OP - I'm rank 26 or thereabouts. There really isn't much difference in equipment as you get higher ranked. There's a bit, sure, but not much. The biggest difference is experience and skill. CQC is so fast-paced compared to the main game that it's like getting slapped in the face when you first step into the ring. I got my rear handed to me in the first 15 or so games. So much so that to get my (unimportant) k:d ratio above 1.0 I needed well above 100 kills! Patience and perseverance will reward you, if you're anything like me. For those first 15 or games my ratio was something like 0.3. Now, it's anywhere from 2-4 kills per death. I'm not excellent by any stretch, I just stuck with it. CQC is fun in small bursts.

MWO is still traumatic. They got rid of Elo... and replaced it with PSR.

Pretty Sketchy Replacement?

All I wanted was a waay cooler MW game with no Stackpoling. Instead I got the coolest mechs ever in the crappiest e-sports game ever. I wish it would die so someone could raid its corpse for assets and make a real game.

You aren't alone. We're all a bit perturbed with PGI. As for what it stands for? Hell if I know. And like everything PGI... it is dumb. Five tiers and the middle one is the tier of pain while the bottom two are the lands of fairies and unicorns where people run around tossing pixie dust into the air.

Essentially it still is full of 12-3 stomps and teams full of bad players on one side and roflstompers on the other.

Urg, that go SOOOO OLD. It's not fun to lose or even win under those conditions, especially in the same tired modes and maps. But I miss the viscerality of the mechs really badly. That's the only part that they really nailed. Also what a waste of the original Betty. Rather have her do a VP for my ship comp in Elite.

I haven't touched CQC yet but at least it has a whole other game to fall back on if it sucks. :D

I like this thread more than I thought I would!

Played CQC twice in release, kill ratio of 0.33. Feel a bit better now about that. It will take me ages to get to 15 games.
Could not get a match Deathmatch last week, otherwise I think my kill ratio wold be even lower!
