Hi,
ED dev teams are we going to get FaceTrackNoIR/Freetrack support in ED for head-tracking?
Thanks
Haider

They don't support FraceTrackNoIR already? Are they using different protocols than TrackIR?

Exactly, poor practice rather than super secret technology.+1 from me too, native support would be great.
I believe the latest TrackIR protocol is encrypted, presumably to prevent rival systems like the free ones from "just working".
I wonder why head trackers not just implement a simple 6dof joystick or "3D hid mouse" driver. Would be easy to implement for a game that uses joysticks anyway then.

I think the FaceTrackNoIR does this ("VJoy" it's called). I've been unable to get it working in the ED alpha though, probably due to the current lack of support for >1 controller at once. I have a HOTAS already so this extra faked-in-software VJoy thing just doesn't seem to work.
It's possible I'm just not doing it right, I've not spend hours on the thing, but others have had similar issues I believe. Hopefully a new alpha release will add multiple controller support (certainly it's on FD's to-do list, it's needed for e.g. the Warthog HOTAS with separate foot pedals, I think).
NaturalPoint chose to implement a propriety protocol which they then went and encrypted using a copyrighted Haiku.
Have you got Freetrack working with ED then?I use a TrackIR pro clip with a PS3 webcam and Freetrack. Had I know about their shennanigans I probably would have just made my own clip!
