FaceTrackNoIR/Freetrack Support

+1 from me too, native support would be great.

They don't support FraceTrackNoIR already? Are they using different protocols than TrackIR?

I believe the latest TrackIR protocol is encrypted, presumably to prevent rival systems like the free ones from "just working".

They support TrackIR 5 protocol, which is encrypted due of monopoly tactics used by TrackIR vendor. So only way is to support FreeTrack directly (alternative is configure FaceTrackNoIR to use Virtual Joystick, it is limited however).

Exactly, poor practice rather than super secret technology.

Another vote here for FD to support the free/open source head trackers please. :)

I don't like monopoly, always leads to arguments and broken friendship.

+1 for support to the cheap skates please :p

I wonder why head trackers not just implement a simple 6dof joystick or "3D hid mouse" driver. Would be easy to implement for a game that uses joysticks anyway then.

NaturalPoint chose to implement a propriety protocol which they then went and encrypted using a copyrighted Haiku.

I think the FaceTrackNoIR does this ("VJoy" it's called). I've been unable to get it working in the ED alpha though, probably due to the current lack of support for >1 controller at once. I have a HOTAS already so this extra faked-in-software VJoy thing just doesn't seem to work.

It's possible I'm just not doing it right, I've not spend hours on the thing, but others have had similar issues I believe. Hopefully a new alpha release will add multiple controller support (certainly it's on FD's to-do list, it's needed for e.g. the Warthog HOTAS with separate foot pedals, I think).

I had it working before I got my stick and was playing KBM, obviously no longer due to the lack of support for multiple controllers that you mention.

I don't need FTNoIR, but I support the idea to get it implemented in ED.

It's always good to have options :)

I use a TrackIR pro clip with a PS3 webcam and Freetrack. Had I known about their shennanigans I probably would have just made my own clip!
