X52 user here, Pinky button "F 12 Reset View in Oculus Rift" stopped working

Hello fellow vr users. As always, love this game in VR.

For the longest time, I had my x52 set up for my pinky switch on the right hand to work as "F12" to "Reset my VR orientation". It worked for ages. Now, with windows 10 and the workaround to use ED with the DK2 everything works perfectly EXCEPT my x52 pinky switch button stopped working (I am not sure if windows 10 has anything to do with it as all the other hotkeys w x52 still work).

And yes, when I go into the x52 software the pinky switch/button still works and it is still set as F12. I have checked that multiple times and it seems to all still be set up the exact same way and working in the x52 software. So what gives? I am having to lean way over to my keyboard and press f12 rather than just use my months long working x52 "hotkey" for pinky switch to "F12".

Any thoughts? Thanks!

Goto the control panel on the X52 software and select the MFD tab, now untick the enable clutch mode. Should all work now :)

My friends. I cannot for the life of me find the "MFD" tab. I have been inside the x52 software and under the "programming" on the top right.

Please consider me an infant on this and be descriptive : ) Lead the way, where is this tab?!?! I googled and searched the software, cant find it.

Thank you!

Make sure you have the new version of the drivers. And cut on and leave on the control panel. With the control panel open just switch over to ED and play it should work now. If not. I'm sorry and I will cut off a finger.

I had this issue with my X55, I ended up blowing my entire ED installation away and re-downloading it which fixed it. You can tell if your ED installation is the problem, just go to the controls menu and try to bind *any* key to the reset orientation option, IRRC it shows the change in the menu but the button won't actually work.
Good luck.

Thanks everyone. Can one of you wizards please answer my question above... About where to find the MFD tab also. Please help me with that.

Thanks again

Go to the system tray, bottom right. Find the X52 Flight Control System icon, it may be hidden in the up arrow. Right click it and select control panel. Select the MFD tab and make sure Enable Clutch Mode is cleared. If this doesn't solve your problem then go into the profile editor, similar way to above, then into programming and set the pinkie switch to unprogrammed. In fact you should do this with any button that isn't behaving the way you expect it to. You can then select the pinkie button to be the button for reset view in E:D controls menu.

Very detailed procedure, just as requested. :) Hope you find it useful.

This is excellent recap. Changing this in the ED controls menu may solve what I need.

That being said, Please don't hate me for my next question. When you said. "Right click it and select control panel. Select the MFD tab and make sure Enable Clutch Mode" that is right where you lose me. I tried doing that and I don't even have (or somehow stupidly don't see) the MFD tab.

Long story short, I have looked all over the control panel and haven't even SEEN ....EVER an MFD tab. Perhaps I need to update the software? Is the MFD tab in the upper right corner somewhere after I enter the control panel? Is it near x or y?

lol, not sure why I'm limping along with this ...but thanks again everyone.

On a slightly different note:

The X52 profile software isn't allowed to work on windows 8.1 which means no assigning key-presses to the X52. It's because the driver is unsigned and windows 8 blocks unsigned drivers. This means you lose a crap-load of possible control configs with your X52.

Solution is to put windows into test mode.

I'm using windows 10. Grammaton.....with that information (of me using w10) any thoughts?

Cheers boys.

What happens is that in your windows Device Manager list one of the entries will be flagged as not working correctly. That's the mad katz device driver. Windows has blocked it so you lose the ability to assign key presses and mode changes to your Saitek.

http://www.top-password.com/blog/how-to-disable-driver-signature-enforcement-in-windows-10-8-7/

I now have fully functionality on my x52 pro. With windows in test mode I get a label in bottom right corner of the desktop but I don't mind that.

Option 1: Disable Driver Signature Enforcement Completely

  1. Open a Command Prompt with admin privileges. In Windows 10 or 8, just press the Windows key + X and then select “Command Prompt (Admin)”.
  2. Type in the following command and press Enter.
bcdedit /set testsigning onYou should receive “The operation completed successfully” message.
  3. Close the Command Prompt and restart your computer. From now on, you will be able to install or run any unsigned driver without problems. If you need to enable the Driver Signature Enforcement again, run this command instead:
    bcdedit /set testsigning off

so will following your steps it will fix the pinky button issue?

Thanks,

Use the saitek test window or wordpad to check if "f12" is typed when u hit the pinky. If it isn't then the problem is windows 10 blocking the unsigned driver from madkatz.

In which case u need to put windows 10 in test mode to fix the problem.
