Ehr, I know, but I've just decoded the MORSE few minutes ago, spelling Thompson Dock, so...

Good to know ! So the UA did the same thing than 1.3 ? I mean saying the name of the closest thing ? Did he still pointing Merope too or he have change its behavior ?
Anyway you done well rizal i stay tune. ^^

The answer to the UA mystery will be revealed on the 42nd page of the UA Mystery thread #42. So buy a chimp a netbook lets keep posting!

Hey! I resemble that remark!
What have you mad sciencer sods done to Varati? It was working just fine when I put it back in the cupboard. (Well, apart from the BGS, but that's a whole different thread, right?)

@Rizal & Team Juicy - Very cool beans that you'll be confirming in the vicinity of Thompson later. Always a pleasure watching Canonneers swerve around in Rapid Reaction Science mode.
@Anybody Feeling Confirmatoritorial - I have rubbish ears and pee-poor filming facilities, and am excruciatingly far from 49/64 Arietis thanks to gin-sodden exploration with a rubbish jump range, so please forgive me if I seem like I'm trying to sidestep doing the legwork myself.... buuuut... could somebody with the skills/facilities please consider a parallel confirmation at Weyn Dock in 64 Arietis and... uh... whatever the station is in 49?

Definetly.

We should check if this is standard UA behavior near stations first.

By the way, fanbloodytastic work again guys.

I'm planning to do it myself this next evening: I'll deploy the UA in 49 Arietis, Gaiman Dock, then in 64 Arietis, Weyn Dock. The latter should be very easy to decode even without the spectrogram...

Rizel, can you point me to the technique for decoding? I assume watch the lines on the spectogram and convert to... Hex? A few pointers would help, not expecting anyone to decode mine but it would be nice! ;)

Hi,

I've made a recording here:

https://soundcloud.com/oharas-gold/elite-dangerous-ua-001

EDIT: There appears to be audio/musical 'swells' in this. I've muted music; if I mute sound effects, I loose all sound. Let me know if it interferes, and suggest what I can do to help.

AND it's not downloadable - but you should be able to play it and record it to your PC somehow...

Done. The usual signals for an Asp (example: MHNGOG MHOGWQ OGVIZN the first sequence). You could now try to take the UA to 64 Arietis and do a recording there, close to the station, keeping at 350 mt from the UA.

You might find this useful. A short tone is a dot and a long tone is a dash.

Load the sound in Sonic Visualizer, set it Scale: Meter, Window: 4096, 93,75% and push the second button on the right of Scale: Meter, named "Normalize Visible Area", then zoom the right , down on the right, all the way, to have a clear view of the signals/sounds. In my image you see: MHNGOG MHOGWQ OGVIZN.
It's the sound file you've posted.

Just recorded less than 8km from Thompson Hub in an Asp (unladen)

(Says its an MP4, but it is an Audio Only Convert from VLC)

Thanks dommarraa, I'm looking into it now.

On my way!

Cup of Explorer's Tea first (slightly stronger than 20thC Builder's Tea...) and a ciggy to calm my nerves.

EDIT - thanks for the data - MOST useful :) Repped! Rept? You know what I mean...

Ok Decoded (I'm becoming really fast!): unfortunately, your recording shows the usual signals for an Asp (ex: HHMHII HMIILI HMLISR).
Your distance from the UA while recording? We still need to understand if it's just the distance, or the RARES in the hold, to trigger the "other" Morse.

About 120m. I tried it from far away, but could hear nothing but the howl

Do I have to zoom in with debug to get a good signal ? My debug camera doesnt move very far from the ship for some reason
