Notice Scan data bug fixed

Still not had a single reply from FD on this update issue.
The communication all round is very poor to non existent , all in all it's been a very disappointing and frustrating expierance.
Still love the game.

Still seems somewhat random, given that some folks praise FD support. Personally, I gave up using them months ago. Most of my tickets were ignored, and when I did get responses I got patronising replies that showed they had not bothered to understand the issue, and they closed the ticket down when I dared to ask follow-up questions.

Copy that Chuck, I did not sign up for this farce so I'm going back to the game.
Sorry to here you've had similar issues and hope it doesn't stop you playing.
Fly safe.

Oh boy! I just can't wait to go exploring again!

Thanks FD for all the confidence you instill in the platform.

I got it now. I should go out into the void for a few weeks, and HOPE that it's worth it when I return.

Brilliant

Not complaining, just another observation.

Another email from Support.

So we've taken a few more looks at recovering lost data, it looks like the data that was recoverable has all been applied to your account (and others) as completely as possible which means any further discrepancies are unfortunately now irrecoverable (without re-scanning manually).

That said, we're absolutely happy to reimburse you for the lost data (with some interest for the inconvenience). So the $ACCEPTABLE_AMOUNT credits that you'd have gotten from the scans should now be added to your account now.

Sorry that my efforts, along with the efforts from the rest of the guys handling this bug weren't able to recover the lost data for you and thanks for being so patient while we worked on solving the problem.

Should you wish to add anything else to this ticket you are more than welcome to do so!

Best wishes for the future, Commander. Fly safe.

So they've declared the data that was lost during the upgrade that has not yet been restored to be unrecoverable, and have credited me in credits for that loss. I've lost some First Discovered credits, and will have to grind an extra day or so to make it to Elite. C'est la vie.

I (although I suspect am going to be one of few) can live with that.

It will depend on when people explored, and how lucky they were, I guess. It was obvious that there were issues when 1.4 dropped, so I sat it out until FD declared it fixed. Of course, they were wrong - they had not fixed everything then. But it looks as if I was lucky. I have just 4 systems that I scanned that are now shown as unexplored to me. As it happens, they were all pretty uninteresting, and worth very little. Thus far I have not scraped together the enthusiasm to bother to raise a ticket.

The hypocrisy of having a sticky on the official forum stating that "the scan data bug is fixed" continuing on its 84th page, when we all know that it isn't, I frankly find disgusting.

As I've stated many times before: I love this game, but the level of continuously misleading the public and ignoring complaints is appalling.

I'd rather that public relations ignored us, than insisting on feeding us lies. I wish management would take a long hard look at their PR division. It isn't doing E: D or FD any favours.

You can fix that yourself. Just change the number of posts per page to 40, and it is only on the 32nd page. Which is obviously much better.

(I don't know whether to laugh or cry. But we know where explorers are in FDs priority list.)

At least this thread is no longer a sticky I see...

They ought to hire me for their PR. I'd close down any complaint as soon as it popped up, and deny it at every turn. Problem solved.

But as they haven't, I'll keep poking.

Obvious first move is to remove the sticky and let the thread drown. I wonder if this tactic will prove adequate though. After all, all it takes is a few stubborn commanders willing to keep the glaring blunder afloat...

How 'bout a TLDR for those of us too lazy to go through 84 pages in exchange for a free thread bump? ;) Is there still an ongoing issue with exploration, or is it just that they couldn't recover all the data?

There were issues with data a little before the upgrade to 1.4 until some time a few days later. The addition of new scan data appeared to be fixed around October 9th or 10th. At that point, there remained some issue with data corruption on scans made between the update and the fix. Most of that corrupt data was fixed by a week or two ago. The range of corrupt data (from what I can see) is from somewhere after October 6th to somewhere before October 9th. (I have good data for October 6th, didn't play on the 7th, corrupt data for *most* of October 8th and good data from October 9th on.)

There are also some users who are having issues that are unrelated to the problem that this thread was created to address.

9th november for 1.5 and 24th for horizons...

anybody nervous about another batch of lost data... i for one will stop exploring as of tonight again.. i cant afford to lose the 40mil worth of exploration data onboard again...

if something were to happen to me again that would be the end of ED exploration for me... especially since my OCD already makes me unhappy looking at misaligned stats after dev ""FIXED" my rank and monetary but not my display panel data stats, sure its just cosmetic but i hate misaligned stats...

OK. :)

TL: DR: Some are still experiencing "irregularities" with the exploration part of the game.

In my specific case, last time I checked, there were two primary suns in separate systems, that I was unable to scan. They simply don't register. Neither on scanner, or as clickables. I have created a ticket. Haven't heard anything back.

So as far as I know, the scan data bug is definitely NOT fixed.

Fallout 4 is just around the corner, so apart from some beta testing during Horizons release, I'll be giving E: D a break till at least after christmas.

Honestly, all the different exploration problems don't bother me much personally. It's the way FD are "managing" the communications regarding these issues that really annoy me. They seem borderline incompetent.

And again, for the record, I really do love this game, and have come to terms with the "10 year development plan", bugs and all.

Fly safe :)

Are you a spokesperson for FD?

Do you have unlimited access to all exploration data?

Are you qualified to assess all this data to enable you to give us a definitive answer on this issue?
