I'm sure you've all heard the recent news that "thargoid content" will be released with Horizons. Not only that, but the UA mystery will also be evolved with the next season as well! Before you think this is just another thargoid thread, please read the following.

Long story short, the Unknown Artefact points to the Merope system from anywhere in the Galaxy (except for the occasional bug when it fails to rotate after being dropped) Once inside the Merope system the UA will always point to the main star in Merope. No one knows why, but we suspect that one of the 14 airless moons in Merope may answer our questions. This thread is an open invitation to any & all Commanders to join in our coordinated effort over TeamSpeak this winter. We already have 300+ commanders dedicated to the expedition. It doesnt matter what group you're apart of, or what ship you're flying, this mystery is for the entire community to solve and we would like to help the process along! We will be recording all our findings and tests to avoid doubling up on things already tried and areas already searched.

We share this with you in good faith and to show that we know we're not the only ones searching, nor do we hold any ownership over the mystery. This discovery is the sole reason for the construction of Gnosis. What we learn here could unlock humanities' next step in the quest for knowledge.

I support this.

Though I am not sure I'm too keen on the idea of a token peace gesture on the promise of a righteous war!

The Thargoids are a peaceful race, and should be treated as such.

Previous exchanges were the result of manipulating human factions with a vested interest in profiting from an inter-species war.

I'm kinda hoping humanity has learned it's lesson. INRA.

i say we find them,kill them,and then steal there technology....i dont think a cup of earl gray will suffice in the first contact between humans and thargoids...
they are supposed to look nasty? so nasty that humans find it hard to look at them...well to me if they have giant wasp like faces i will be damm scared....but by god ill have one last fight
also its a game,i honestly think the thargoids are coming for war...if they were coming to play lets all be friends.(nice as it sounds) it would be a bit boringeh?...i dont know about you but i wouldnt want one living next door to me

An excellent and noble endeavour Commander. You can, of course, rely on my assistance in all matters related to this most sciencey of scientific escapades. I look forward to rolling across the barren plains of the Meropian moons and sampling my first Thargoid Roadkill burger. It's no Jammy Dodger, but I'll bet it's packed with protein

Bitstorm! You make an excellent point. Honestly, I'm hoping everything goes peaceful and our "token peace gesture" is not met with enemy fire. I'm merely trying to dissuade any trigger happy commanders from engaging right away by promising sweet vengeance and letting the Aliens strike first.

Obviously if we are met with peace, there will be no war.
Obviously some commanders will open fire.
Obviously I will open fire on them for doing so.

You will have my assistance for this cause. Exploration and discovery has always been among my favorite activities, though I will of course bring suitable armaments for the occasion. Better to have and not need, than to need and not have.

I'm seriously hoping not D: I have beta access but I always assumed some planets will be off limits.
Fingers crossed that they leave this out of beta. Or, its so hard to find that we have no chance finding it before things go live.

We've arived at our conclusion;

Not every one has beta access
Not every one will have Horizons once it goes public, either.

If those who own horrizons, but don't also have beta access, are going to land in merope post-beta, the people who don't even own horrizons are going to feel left out.

I'm sure that's not going to stop anyone who owns horrizons (but not the beta) from landing in merope post-beta.

Therefore, by that logic, us beta players will apply the same actions to our situation. We will be touching down during beta. All discoveries will be posted here & on the main thread.



She's a repurposed Majestic class Interdictor ;) we remodeled the interior and replaced all the "bask" with "science"

Oh, so when you dismiss your ship with a UA in it? Hmm.

Maybe you can carry the UA on the buggy but I don't think there's likely to be an auto-maintenance on the SRV.

I do want to see a UA dropped on a planetary surface though. WE can roll them down hills or jettison them mid jump on low gravity bodies and stuff.

For science obviously. =p
