Star Wars Battlefront 3 (DICE)

There are a few developers refining game systems, existing experiences and improving upon them.

Sadly, themajority are investing their efforts in researching and implenting ways to tax experiences, to monitize gaming as much as possible.

Essentially, they're looking to develop the perfect digital drug, to create a generation of digital drug addicted gamer junkies.

I can stop anytime man! I don't have to play you know!

Funny thing is its not funny - and people's passive acceptance is supporting the trade. This latest stash, dressed up in Star Wars's trappings, is just another iteration. They'll crack it soon, don't you worry.

Or people will start taking games, and the responsiblity of developers in charge of manipulating us, seriously.

Dumbed down console schlock. Tiny maps, simplistic gameplay. And some youtubers like Levelcap getting a pretty penny from EA for gushing over how "they laser scanned original props" as if that was gameplay-relevant.

Hilarious to watch :)

Looks gorgeous. In fact I would say it is the best looking game I have ever seen. Frontier should use some of the tech in that game. ;)

The volumetric explosions are something I'd love FDev to implement.

Mass Effect Andromida will be using the Frostbite engine too. Expect that'll look pretty cool.

It really looks good, when i was trying the Beta i think i never saw a game lke this one, but the gameplay, well, it has been reduced to the minimum, some level between ridiculous and arcade.

However i'm a Star Wars Fan, i'm hyped and i will give it a try, just to the standard version because i'm not sure if i will be interested after the first months, so i'm not going to buy any premium or season pass until i see the whole game and the different gameplay modes it brings, i'm at a point that i really don't play so much else than Elite because all the game industry seems to go in the same direction, hopefully with the VR next year this will change at least a bit.

My lad has been playing since release. I actually think it looks very good. It's dumbed down and more effort could have gone into a campaign mode, but it's Star Wars and fun.

Tried battlefront, played it for about an hour didn't like it, yes the graphics looks amazing the sound is good, but the gameplay sucks, this is not battlefront its something else, I played the originals and the only thing I did enjoy about the game was I could see the enemies more clearer than on BF3, then I saw the video on angryjoes channel about it and yeah it just gets worse and worse, what winds me up is on angryjoes video he says don't buy it, and then 2 mins later I might buy it lol

anyway after an hour the game was uninstalled

I really really really hope disney do not screw up the new star wars film I am a very big star wars fan

The new Star Wars film looks entertaining and fun but I wouldn't hold my breath for any substance. Lucas already repeated attempts to remake the origional movie twice. Once with ROTJ and again with The phanthom Menace. He just reused action scenes and themes again to produce the same movie.

This time around with JJ Abrams it seems that Disney has decided to get back to the 'old Star Wars'. So much so that they have decided to actually make the film again literally!

Droid carrying something important the Empire wants, man in mask wants what droid is carrying, young up and coming Jedi in a Jedi -less galaxy living on a sand planet, a snow planet, Empire have a Death Star AGAIN!, battle with x wings in trench, young hero wields the guns on the Millennium Falcon etc. etc. etc.

And that is only from the bits we have seen...

I am putting my money on them rehashing the rope swinging scene from Star Wars and ROTJ yet again...

I really hope it is a good movie but it is starting to smell like another formulaic Hollywood sequel with no backbone.

They should have made Star wars battlefront single player and ditched the MP for once. You could tell from beta that this game was going to be a failure. I wouldnt even waste my time on it if i got it free.

I could tell from their E3 2014 trailer that it was going to be a failure. A whole trailer about how much effort the team put on making the game world look authentic to the films told me that it was going to be yet another extremely good looking product with little gameplay content.

That said, I am surprised that EA hasn't been charging through the nose for "Imperial Stormtrooper Shortcut Packs" or "Jedi General Booster Boxes" or anything of the sort. Quite amazed actually.

I must apologise to a lot of people here; I have bought it and I am loving it.

Air combat is EXTREMELY unbalanced at the present time, with the Rebels getting an omnipotent shield and the Empire getting a useless speed booster. But other than that I love it.

I've watched a lot of gameplay videos of this game and most report the same things and they are that the game looks great but suffers from severe weapon imbalance for new players, air combat is poor, map size is too small, level design is poor and respawn mechanic is utterly rubbish. The last one seems like it would annoy me the most and in the footage I saw players being spawn right behind enemies, which sounds like fun if you are the one doing the ganking but not if you have just spawning in then get shot in the back instantly. I did see a number of players complaining about being shot across the map by non-sniper weapons. The tend to ignore the fact that the weapons are laser based so would in fact be hit-scan weapons with better-than-sniper accuracy. But for game mechanic purposes its just annoying being sniped repeatedly by a pistol user from across the map, I guess.

For me I think I would neatly file this in the DICE folder, which has the postscript "Nice looking game thats fun to play for a week or two until the realisation dawns that I am only playing to unlock a better weapon and therefore only playing to push that little XP indicator across the screen to the right". At that point I stop playing as it isn't really fun any more and is in fact a big waste of £50. :)

There is a severe weapon imbalance for new players and air combat, while really quite fun under certain circumstances, is horribly imbalanced towards the rebels.

Beyond that I am honestly not finding your other concerns to be particularly frequent bugbears in game so far. Occasionally an enemy will have bypassed your area and start shooting and your spawn areas from the back, but they normally last all of 2 seconds when spotted. The maps are easily big enough and are well designed.

Disclaimer: Almost all of my (ground) matches so far have been either Walker Assault or Supremacy, which are massive great big boomfests of 20vs20. I have also tried Droids once which has fewer players. It was still fun and seemed balanced enough though. Supremacy seems to be what most people are playing, but Walker Assault is more fun than watching a whaling ship get sunk by a whale.

The game could use a few more maps and really should have had a game mode devoted entirely to using those speeder-bikes somehow. I messed around with them in the tutorial section and they are so much fun to play with I could easily see myself getting a game based just on them.

It's ultimately a very shallow game, but it is based on fun and frills-free blasty action rather than depth, and that it manages to deliver marvelously. If you're looking for something deep or something that you can enjoy as a strategic shooter like Rainbow Six then this isn't the game for you. But if you like a spammy great big battle royale with bombastic Star Wars music playing as you Pew-Pew-Pew, PtPtPtPtPtPtPt, vvvvVVVVSSHHHHDDDdddd, and Choor...Cheeee then this really is something you should have a go at.

I got this game on Christmas day ... Waited all day to play it. Finally, when the wife had caught up with Kill the Midwife (or whatever that twee nonsense is called) and she went to bed, I fired up the Xbone and got stuck in.

By the time I got to the second training mission I was starting to wonder. Flying my X Wing around, I thought it looked good but it felt awful to play. I tried the speeder bike training mission. Again, looked great but didn't feel right to play ... best described as 'spongy'. Considering it was supposed to be training, I was surprised at how little guidance the game gave me. For instance, I found out about the boost by accident.

I moved in to playing an 8 v 8 capture the pod game. I died. I died again. I spawned right next to an enemy and died again. I soon realised that 1st person was a handicap .. that you could snipe with almost any weapon and that due to the nature of the map design, spawn mechanics and guns, there was no point in going anywhere but on the edge of the map.

The maps are dire. I mean really poor. A series of trenches with multiple pathways that create a poor arena to fight in. No height and no variety. I can't begin to tell you how many times I could see trouble incoming and when I went to gth out of there, I got snared on the narrow trench wall of jammed in by another player and got shot.

And slow?! The control system just feels massively unresponsive.

Without any classes by default, there needs to be more guidance to build your own. There also needs to be a gun range to test these weapons out before you spend your credits. I doubt this game will ever be patched in to shape. It's just a huge disappointment.

This dude says it all. I stopped gaming for some time and got back in to it and was completely bewildered that DLC had become central to games. Destiny is a case in point .... I bought the game and beat it in a couple of days and thought ':):):), is that it? ... and why can't I play all these other planets and missions ... Oh wait, I need to fork out again?'

The industry is going to hell in a handcart. Hype followed by greed followed by hype. If SWBF is how the industry is going, then God help it.

I just bought Destiny a couple of days ago at a discount, with all expansions.

Don't buy the game when it gets out. just wait lol

I don't follow ranting yt of people who are pfixated to go for as cheap as posible as free and have insane high standards to.
To me paying for DLC leead to cheaper gaming in my case.
I play one of these games CoD BF rainbow6 for years. Which means less time to play other singleplayer games. After bought games I did play even not install. I buy less games.

The industry sees this. Gamers have a attention span to a game. If it is Singleplayer it has often limited replay value and after play the story out you go for the next. Which could mean each week to a month a new game.
BF4 I play more then a year from release only blops3 and R6 I bought. And the full DLC often season packs.
So intead of 15 to 20 games with few hour each. I play online a game grey. Wich means for play time.
Pomping €150,- in one game where I have the hours spend to reach level 100+ on PS3 and migrate to PS4 even bought the game again. Because it so cheap.
For money spent per hour. €250,- is nothing.

Cod compared to R6 is very complete and rich game with campain coop zomby online.
Where R6 is coop and online and fewer maps.

I do not play Batlefront because I have to choose what our clan will play online. Which is still BF4 with all with full DLC and other part R6. No interrest from there.
I am into Scifi so I have most Scify shows with space combat the box set.
But I don't like starwars ip, am more a firefly staregate startrek.
But I will see the movie
