Cutter/Corvette and powerpay impact

So how many Commanders will defect to /join Aisling Duval to be ready with prismatic shield for their Cutter/Corvette when released ?

Yeah, the whole prismatic shield thing is a bit troubling, a ship that can run them has quite an advantage, which makes one faction only having such a shield troubling in my book, really wish power play items were reworked so for example each faction had their own item you got quickest, but if you kept staying loyal you would eventually have access to everything.

It gives me a distinct defensive advantage in my 'conda, but no additional offence as offered by other powers. I guess it depends on how you want to be.

Your superior defence drastically increases your time on target with your superior weapon load out and thus superior offence.

The prismatic shield is the only pp goody worth having. However I really do not like the empire bias in this game so its not for me.

If its not the best and one sided pp goodie well other than bounty stacking cg goal, why does she have sooooo many supporters.

Quite happy to be the underdog with normal shields against a stacked opposition.

And what makes you believe they will be able to power that ? Combat ships are notoriously underpowered in ED.

Yeah, but the FGS and FAS are quite good on power and distributor. I'm really hoping the days of the FdL/Vulture spreadsheet headache in outfitting are behind us.

A prismatic only adds about 0.2% to a regular counterpart, and adds extra power consumption on top of it; basically it is just the added difference of one A-grade shield booster, with the extra power consumption. no biggie.

..wait. what? how do you know?
has beta started early??
or am I just oblivious to the info out on the net? ah hm.

IMO prismatics should draw more power and weigh less. They should be for traders, not combat ships.

Regardless, I'm hoping the 1.5 changes to SCBs will disrupt the shield meta somewhat

Are they really better?

My edshipyard calculations showed me something different. In my Anaconda i would have massive power issues, i could only use pulse and cannon, no rails of PA. Only on the Python it looks like it could work with all the SB´s and SCB´s. I think its perfect for a trader, who wants to safe the biggest compartment for cargo and put the prismatic shield in the second largest having nearly the same amount of MJ.

And isn´t our little, blue haired, smurfprincess focusing on non-combat stuff, especially trading?

No, there's no 'drastic' improvement in loiter time. They are just shields at the end of the day, except they weigh twice as much as regular and are power hungry. You will not notice a big difference on the battlefield, and in reality they buy a few more seconds, less than 30.

They are for traders, but not without the drawback of extra weight for the extra shielding. You really get quite a bit more extra shielding on something like an anaconda, for a minor gain in weight if you're running a 4a or 5a shield, which is all you need if you have prismatics and a fist full of boosters.

I don't think they'll factor in too much on the powerplay landscape, certainly not anymore than they have historically. The market for Cutters and Corvettes is already extremely limited due to price/rank and the power draw on those puppies is massive (1.5x IIRC).

can someone do the maths on the the corvette with a size 8A shield if its hull is around 750 tonnes, i say 750 because surely it has better base shield than a t9 and if its hull is more than 1000 we might see size 9 shields. which considering the panther clipper will be a direct upgrade to the t9 and heavier, is inevitable.

I don't understand why the prismatic is available in every class unlike every other damn module. Pacifier only available for C3, Hammer C2, Pack-Hound C2, Cyto C1 (?), disruptor C2, prismatic 1-8 (???!!!?!).

I wont - bought storage ships when I had access to them and stocked up. Anyway - the impact on PP is rather negligible. Whilst I was pledged I did some undermining to get rank 2 for the influence bonus for the first three weeks and then did a little more undermining in week 4.

I don't hold bimbo-princess in high regard, so I made sure none of my actions whilst being pledged benefited her in any way (rather the opposite).
