I am really looking forward to VR. But next to nothing on the web regarding progress to release.
Has anyone heard anything about when the Vive, or Rift will be available?

Most rumors and semi-official quotes puts a very limited Vive release in mid dec. But its far from confirmed.
There also pretty solid rumors about the main Vive launch in the late feb/early mars timeframe.
On CV1 we know even fewer "solid" facts. Its Q1 for sure, but when? Most likely its early in that window and january
isnt out off the question. Most things also point to a full release from the start. First verified CV1 unity to ship off the production
factory was in september, so I would guess they are full steam ahead in production mode at the moment.
Both Vive and CV1 will start taking preorders sometime in early december is my guess.

Some say valve and oculus are in a mexican standoff about pricepoint.
Just like in those pawn series the seller always goes first and then the pawnshop owner starts undercutting him.
The most difficult for me is which one to get as I guess there will be no independent reviews before the preorders go up. It also depends on frontier getting oculus to actually work with elite within a decent timeframe.

If your asking if we've heard anything, HTC is rumored to be shipping the limited release on Dec 15th. This is unofficial. And who knows if anyone will actually get one until their full release sometime in Q1 2016. I too think that HTC and Oculus are waiting for the other to make a move. I think both want to price their product with full knowledge of the price of their competitor.
So are we getting to the stage when it's worth checking each morning to see if pre-orders have opened?

Don't forget Playstation VR first half of 2016. By then Elite should be a PS4 VR game. There should be some news about it in early December.
