just put my DK2 on ebay

ahh ok sure, I guess i missread your post. So you are right the 3GB may not be a problem for running ED on full bubble.... but I fear the rest of his card will be a problem.

It also depends on his resolution and what FPS he expects to hit, i see 60fps being no problem at all maybe dipping a alittle with 1 card in a station. 2 cards in SLI (780ti) will destroy this game but again vram maybe a problem depending on resolution and Anti Aliasing.

we are in the VR forum... therefore the minimum resolution is VR 1080p (which as I am sure you know is not the same as 1080p on a monitor)and the minimum framerate is 75fps imo.

anything less and you are not running at comfortable VR levels..... unless FD introduce decoupling headtracking fps from the game fps. this can work quite well, and indeed is essential for FSX using the flyinside software as FSX likes to drop even below 40fps sometimes.

Many thanks to everybody...I suspect my actual rig (i5, 8gb ram, R9280x) will not be enough to run smoothly the Oculus DK2 (fullhd @ 75-90 fps per eye) ...in this case I will meditate a full upgrade along with the CV1..my wallet willing :D

hi,

reasons I sold the oculus:

* unclear about software support once CV1 ships.

* prices will probably drop rapidly on the DK2

* my current machine probably won't support the newer devices.

these are just opinions, guesses about the DK2's future, but i _did_ recently sell my Oculus on Ebay - for $445 - more than I paid for it, bid up quickly towards the last day.

ideally, the sell price could set me up for the CV1 or whatever.

it seems the buyer was going to send it to China or Japan.

- Slick

Maxed out?... Don't be so sure. With my gtx 980 in the 1.5 beta my framerate tanks when in cutter or corvette in a station and that is only on dk2 with no supersampling

Try decreasing the "Model Draw Distance". I have everything maxxed out, running with DSR x1.5 (nVidia native, not the Frontier implementation) but Model Draw Distance set quite low. I get 60-75FpS everywhere, including inside and outside crowded stations with a i5-3470/8GB/GTX970. I tried increasing the MDD to see the visual benefit and whilst there is one it is not worth losing FpS
