How do you land your ship?

I use the jet on an aircraft carrier approach. Full throttle dive and slam down on to the landing pad and try to stop just as I reach the centre circle on the display. Great sound of scraping and a landing method that needs shields otherwise the hull suffers - and suffers even more so if the landing gear is not down

Depends on what I'm flying. For the nimble stuff I do something similar - come in at a very steep angle then level out at the last second, hopefully centered on the circle and hopefully on the right landing pad. I call it the GI Joe approach. Remember how GI Joe's airplanes only needed about 10 feet of runway to land or take off?

T9 needs a bit more finesse to park. For giggles I tried it yesterday with rotational correction off. Fuggetaboutit.

Approach station.
Request docking permission.
Align ship with slot.
Rotate 90 degrees and aim for one of the short edges of the slot.
Mid-way past the wireframe, FA-off and yank back on the pitch.
'Float' through the slot while rotating nose over tail at 200+, like a Boss...
Once at least 2 rotations are complete and well inside the space port, FA-on and orientate to pad.
Approach pad, gear down, touch down on center of pad.

Show off.

How I'm docking during the Onion Head CG

Screaming through the toast-rack at 280 klicks.
Ignoring Ship Scan Detected. Illicit Cargo

TRESPASS WARNING!

ahhhh Forgot again!

Full Reverse -

Crunch! into the mailslot.

"Taking Damage"

Forward roll to line up on the mailslot.

SLAM!

Oh yeah - a Clipper was following me in.

Squeeze past, Trespass countdown expires.
Station Opens fire.
Four pips engines >>> Boost >> Boost >> Boost.

It's just really hard docking at Navigator Market in Xelabara. When you're carrying 8 tons of Onion Head, no one minds a little toke now and then, but it's surprisingly hard on the paintwork.

Boost through slot. Hit back wall. Flail around trying not to hit anything else. Hit something else. Steady her out above the pad.

Not that pad, the other one.

1. Request docking permission.
2. Reduce thrust to zero.
3. Go do something IRL for a minute while the Docking computer lands the ship.

Haven't landed manually in four months.

^^ this exactly, cause I have become lazy in my Conda....hehe

Rotate until the pad is 'down' - then -

You backup your Anaconda through the mail slot, like a boss:

...(snip)...

OK, not seen that before. I have been doing it ALL WRONG!!
(need medication now)

:eek::eek::eek:

Got the Idea from watching the FA Off Vids when first learning FAOff...

Drop in to Station Space.
Center Throttles - 0 Thrust.
Four Pips Engines, Two Systems.
Target Station while lining up Entry Side below my nose.
Using Thrusters and Boost, Boost down till I line up with slot.
Request Landing once in range.
Translate Boost toward Mail Slot, Roll to correct Orientation (Red Left/Green Right).
Gear Down at Marker Bouy.
Cross Threshold at 100Ms.
Roll to Pad orientation.
Fly to Pad, Gentle Touchdown.
All on Thrusters and Boost...

System Athorities Still Wondering What De Hell Was Dat?
As I Enter Hanger...

:D
