Well spotted! That was an issue, but it has already been addressed. The Scarab auto-retracts its turret to get underneath. You could hear it when I returned to the Vulture in the video on Sunday.
Oh cool, I was wondering what that sound was when you approached the ship - it happened on the Cutter too. Nice
For anyone who is thinking of landing, I started looking for nearby landing sites, and oh god, I spent two hours in the Galaxy Map just looking around. I'm bearing in mind that the planets will look a little different, but found some interesting ones nearby. Most excited by one that is 1.5 times the mass of Earth, and another that is only 200km across (I'm guessing that is going to be potato-shaped once the beta is out).
Also player groups (no doubt they're already doing it) ought to be checking their home systems, like Orfeboy did. I did some checking around and the Old Worlds have some nice possibilities. The Code on Orrere have a string of landables around their second and third planets.
Even the starting system, LHS 3447, is a bit of a goldmine, and check out the surrounding worlds.
Then there's the old-timers' favorites, the beta systems - iBootis, Aulin, Dahan...
Fair warning, I didn't realise how long I spent doing this. And my very first 'first discovery' is landable. An icy moon in the inhabited bubble. I'm going to be landing on 'my' planet
