News Sneak Peek - Europa from orbit

I saw uranus there!

Joking aside.. wow that is fabulous.. fantastic!

The mechanism for going from supercruise to midway to descent is better than I thought it would be.

Actually that display is showing the current local gravity - it does change as you change altitude (actually very noticeable on tiny planets). It's also currently rounded to 1 decimal place for now, hence 0.1 ;).
Thanks for insights. :) Glad to be corrected.

Will gravity apply to other bodies? Am I going to have to be careful coming out of supercruise near, say, a stellar body? Like, I don't know, a black hole?

Europa..

I would not attempt any landing there before 20001... That would have been the title of Arthur C. Clarkes book, that sadly didnt see life because of the horrible Challenger accident... but maybe, i could...

Thank you for the peek!

You will be able to drop out and land wherever you want...just like you already can drop out in the middle of nowhere if you choose to do so in the current version of the game.

Yeah I thought so mate, but since while Braben was flying near a base you can see how the "approach system" changes colour as it happens while you drop into any zone. If it works the same as in open space I'm cool with that. Is the natural way any ways.

Quite the consummate video tease there Mr B. That really does look fantastic. Congratulations :)

You guys must be chuffed. Very satisfying feeling for you all I imagine, deservedly so. Hopefully this helps somewhat with the crunch of the beta release!

Texture streaming is still an issue.... but its better than the tearing I usually get from planets when you look at them as you pass them by.

Just watched Europa Report again, yesterday :) It doesn't get much cooler than this. Thank you David!!! Can't wait to drill through the ice in some future update and see what "swims up to lick the camera."
