Powerplay 4 weeks pledged with Aisling

Hi All,

As you can guess I am with Aisling Duval for her prismatic shields.. Some friendly chaps here told me to wait till week 3 then do some undermining. Got a little side tracked, checked and I have been pledged 4 weeks and 1 day, tried to do some research and found that Aisling supports don't want any undermining right now (I have no frikin idea what I'm talking about)

I'll be straight, no idea what's going on.. Just want the shields, can anyone help? What can I do without screwing things for her supporters?

Thanks

Well that's silly, I don't understand why her supporters wouldn't want you to go undermine some other power. You'll just earn merits for it, as I don't think undermining another power really directly affects your power. Typically the thing supporters try to coordinate is fortifying certain systems, either to cancel out undermining to your own systems, or to try and get rid of some low-profit systems.

Dont worry about it, go undermine the pirate guy or someone else, then get your shields :D

Undermining other powers won't hurt Aisling. If you really just want the shields and don't want to upset anyone, find a non imperial system which i already >100% undermined and blow up the required number of ships to get rank 3.

Fixed that for you

I have been looking at that myself. My PvP is Mostly harmless, to be polite and it is always a long trip there and back, to cash in the merits. 750 for the 3rd Rank, correct? That's less than 30 targets.

Yeah just go to a control system of an enemy power, so either of the Fed powers, Independent powers, or the Alliance. You *can* undermine other Imperial powers, but you have to go about it completely differently and I wouldn't suggest it because you risk losing merits if you kill them.

Just interdict the powerplay NPC and kill them :D

If you see a wing of 3 and they are the transporters, for example a Type 6 and two sidewinders, interdict one of the sidewinders first and kill them before the Type 6, or else the sidewinders will flee if you do the Type 6 first.

30 merits per kill, easy peasy.

Edit: For Archon Delaine, it's the Kumo Crew Transport, or the Kumo Crew Watch, each power has a transport and enforcer variant.

What a lovey example of why power play is bias.

Another case of people pledged to a power just to get their bonuses and not caring about the power or how their actions effect power play whilst other powers have broken and pointless benefits that attract no one.

Its not the OPs fault of course. But I have to say I am close to kicking this power play crap to the curb again.

Thanks everyone, so I just have to find a system in hostile space and interdict ships?

You need to be in controlled space of a powerplay faction which is not empire.
-
Not just any ships, be careful here. Only ships which are part of power play factions that are not Empire factions will count.
-
So ships that are not part of a faction will not give you any points.
-
And more importantly, ships that are pledged to an Empire power play factions will actually lose you points. I made this mistake before. Just because you are in for example Hudson territory, does not mean you won't run into powerplay NPC's pledged to Empire factions. Killing these will lose you 10 merits each time.

You can also kill Powerplay ships of ANY non-Imperial Power to gain merits whilst undermining - so for example if you travel to a Winters Control System, you can go ahead and interdict + destroy Kumo Crew / Sirius / Utopian etc. ships for 30 merits each, not just the Powerplay ships that are specifically pledged to Winters only.

So you don't need to wait around for Winters ships to spawn, you can go after any (non-imperial) Power NPCs.

Hehe, thanks mate, yeah I wasn't planning on going on a mindless killing spree ;) I have been noticing the faction ships for the past few weeks

But… what's wrong with that? Even fully in-character, in roleplaying terms, how is that wrong?

The player commanders are apparently an independent lot. They weren't raised into an official navy or allegiance, their sparefaring careers started in Sidewinders with no official backers and in a fully independent system. The majority of player commanders are, to some degree or another, mercenaries. Even those that rise within Federation or Imperial ranks are rising within auxiliary ranks, with no salary or responsibilities.

Realistically, many of these player commanders are going to make decisions based on what best supports their spacefaring careers. A player commander pledging to Aisling for the perks she grants her auxiliaries is likely just as common, if not more common, than one pledging to Aisling out of genuine commitment to her values. You think Li Yong-Rui doesn't know what he's doing selling ships and outfits at such a hefty discount they might even be at a loss? Or that Zachary Hudson and Arissa Lavigny-Duval don't offer increased bounty payouts to lure aggressive mercenary types to their side?

It's a cutthroat 'verse. If you want to attract the services of powerful mercenaries, you need to offer them something they want. The powers that don't get that aren't going to prosper.
