[PvP Video] Asp Scout vs Federal Corvette

Fab vid! Looked great fun. What I want to know is.... Your review of the Asp Scout if you'd be so kind

My review:

Pro's

- The Asp Scout is the sexiest pancake in the galaxy!

- The weapons capacitor seems to take a lot longer to drain compared to when I fly other small ships with the same weapon loadout.

- It has the toughest shields of any ship in it's class.

- The pancake like profile makes for a tough target to hit when facing your enemy head on.

Con's

- People make fun of you for flying a pancake. :p

You aren't. If a good enough pilot meets a bad enough one, everything is possible, though, as it should be.

Exactly. Some bad pilots don't know how bad they are, and keep blaming the ships. If that was me in that corvette, that pancake would be fried :) Seriously, It looked like he was only shooting 3 lasers at the Asp. THis was either a mock fight between cmdrs who know each other, or the other guy really didn't know what he was doing.

It's a shame really, having to sift through all those comments in forums from cmdrs who never take the time to practice skills, and think the next big ship will win them every fight.

The Asp Scout is a serious proposition and fun to pilot. Probably one of the most agile ships, medium firepower but great jump range.

I love the Asp Scout. Its like a hormone pumped Eagle that just keeps on going. Super agile and tough as old boots.

That logic make no sense at all, I was eating Corvettes for breakfast in 1.5.2 when nobody wanted to use SCBs due to heat. I would say the bigger ships in the game need SCB more than their smaller counterparts. I was using a Viper and a FDL, I only needed a small window to crack the shields without SCBs.
Good job Mafia for adapting and overcoming the new gameplay.

Did you teach those Corvette pilots 'some manners', like you said to that Vulture pilot in one of ur vids?..despite the fact that the Vulture pilot was minding his own business and hunting bounties..err, I think you need to be taught the manners mate!:D

That guy in the Vulture was not bounty hunting at all, unless, shooting newbies at the starting point is fair game now. I didn't kill him so harm no foul.

Videos like these are always a laugh to watch.

You can tell the corvette has absolutely no idea what he is doing as he is using gimballed weapons and doesn't know how to fly backwards.

Of course noob pilots are going to lose even with their superior ships. But of course everyone acts like the big ships are OP and SCB are broken. I think maybe it's people's piloting ability that is broken.

I think Shield Cell Banks have their place as it allows amazing things to happen in the smallest of ships. However, I welcomed the massive heat generation they used to accumulate in beta 2 with open arms.

Not only was it super fun managing the heat, but it made booster stacking not as viable.

*snip*

I don't understand this logic (unless I misunderstood what you meant). Surely this actually promotes Booster stacking, rather than dissuades it? Do you mean stacking as in firing off multiple boosters at once, or as in having multiple boosters installed? It may reduce the first, but it would at best leave the second the same, and that's no better, since it doesn't do anything to resolve these extended battle of attrition style fights.

Having SCB's generate massive amounts of heat means that if you want to stack SCB's you'll be forced to cool them which means heat sink launchers in your utility mounts instead of boosters.

This means your shields will be weaker and you'll only be able to carry as many SCB's as you have heat sinks to cool them.

Weaker overall shields and being limited to the amount of SCB modules you can carry based on the amount of heat sink launchers you have = increased viability for other builds that aren't based on shield attrition.

The large ship didn't make use of its advantage in its tanking capability by flying in reverse and instead tried to out-maneuver the Asp Scout. An amateur mistake on the Corvette's part.
