SRV Shenanigans

It has a DNA scanning security device that will only recognize the commander who owns the ship. ;)

You would have to get past the Callous Automated Teardown System. Evidence of how it works can be found below:

The first example shows them first demonstrating how this protection system would treat you the first time you reach a station.

Greetings

This is a possibility, actually it has to be possible which is why they have given the ability to send your ship into orbit while you are on the surface so it does not get stolen.

But if you steal some ones ship what happens to your own? it's more likely stealing ships will be possible when we get multi crews, we shall see.

I suppose they did say about the looting system, part of which involves materials in Season 2... So maybe...

Interestingly it was said that you park your ship in a low orbit while in a SRV, but in the last video from Commander Braben they just left the Vulture landed. Seems there are options and we shall see how to (ab)use them.

PS: first thing to try are the mining lasers on such a landed pile of junk metal, hrhr.

Just image the forum post here:

When I came back to my landed Anaconda some "griefer" in a SRV was working with minig lasers on it and now I have huge repair bill.
Doh, but why didn't you send you ship into low orbit and left it alone for any Shenanigan??

ROFLMAO

All shenanigans aside, I think adding something like this to the game would make it even more "Dangerous". With the addition of some sort of hacking skill... Just imagine the outrage of someones cutter getting stolen by someone in a sidewinder - lol. Oh boy I can sense the rage already.

You can't get an SRV in a sidewinder, you'd need a bigger ship to start with ;)

Yes you can. DB stated all ships will have SRV capabilities but in the sidewinder or Eagle that may be all you can carry.

In response to the OP in general this was discussed during the DDF at some point I believe. I do not think it will be coming into the game with 2.0 though.

Yeah and that on a planet whithout a base selling even a sidewinder, so that you have to find the left back ship somewhere, or be stranded for ever, oh boy.
Then we need the Stranded Commander Rescue Forces...

SCRF sounds awfull, but we still have a bit time to find a better name :)

Elite Jenga.

Sidey on top of a
Viper on top of a
Imperial Courier on top of a
Cobra MKIII on top of a
Cobra MKIV on top of a
Asp Scout on top of a
Asp Explorer on top of a
Vulture... etc. etc. etc. all the way to an Anaconda.

Too bad you can't boost with gear down. :)

Don't you know that a commander wrecking his SRV gets send back into his ship?

You won't be a thief - you will just become a new crew mate.

Don't mess up now, I'm sure the captain can fire you and then it's back into your Sidewinder.
