Dropping too close to star

I was doing some trading runs the other day and was almost cooked twice when I dropped into a system. Once was from some kind of super-hot white dwarf. The other was a system with two stars in close proximity of the drop point. I was basically sandwiched between them.
I know it's convenient most of the time for fuel scooping, but could we increase the drop distance a bit please?

LOL...don't ever become an explorer...this is one of the main hazards encountered. Part of what makes exploring fun.

Frawd (Explorer)

Start pulling away from the star under full throttle as soon as you drop into normal space and you should be OK.
FD are not going to change that mechanic IMO.

It's about the only thing that makes exploring in Elite actually dangerous. It'd be a shame to make the game a complete couch-fest.

I understand this could be a hazard while exploring, but it's kind of silly in known space.
In both cases I had zero time to throttle down and was instantly emergency dropped out of supercruise.

Zero throttle BEFORE you arrive. You can actually zero the throttle as soon as the entry into SC countdown starts. But any time while you are travelling you can zero the throttle and it will take effect immediately on arrival. Don't wait until you are there - too late!

As soon as Verity starts the countdown, zero your throttle, you won't fly into stellar objects that way.

You may still come out between two(OR MORE!) stellar bodies however, that's just one of the dangers of space travel...ok, it's pretty much the only real danger from the environment, and the only danger explorers face now, thanks to the Fuel Rats :) 60k LY travelled on my current jaunt, canopy cracked about 9k LY back, straight lining it for my destination point in the bubble now due to that. Gives it a nice edge now, I'm 1, maybe 2 bad exits from the rebuy screen :)

Nah, something else happened, it won't drop you from hyperspace in the dropout area of a stellar body, not since they fixed interdiction/hyperspace jumps. As much as I hate to say "video or it didn't happen", video or...well, ya know. More likely you got distracted, looked away for a couple seconds and crashed into a star. The binaries are fun, the little jerk your guts get when you see a star fly past you as you jump into a system is a great way to perk you up on a boring trade run or long chain of exploration jumping.

"Traveling through hyperspace ain't like dusting crops, boy! Without precise calculations we could fly right through a star or bounce too close to a supernova, and that'd end your trip real quick, wouldn't it?" --Han Solo

I wasn't distracted after almost getting instantly cooked by the white dwarf. There was nothing I could do about the binary star shortly after that. I get the game is called Elite Dangerous, not Elite Russian Roulette every time you jump to a system in known, populated space.

Its that little moment of realisation as you are just starting the drop out phase and you see 3 stars looming into view...........its a squeaky bum moment :D

no OP lets not. The current system has worked fine so far and makes travelling to unknown systems exciting as you dont know the level of hazard.

If you are trading then you should KNOW the route well enough not to end up in those kind of situations. You can check the galaxy map for white dwarfs along the route in the same way you check for scoopable stars on long journeys. Also even in a t9 the danger of falling into a stars danger zone is almost entirely negated by putting your throttle to zero during the jump.
