The gourmet slaves...

It seems the guys who are ''making'' them are a faction that outlaws slaves and imperial slaves , its very strange.
I understand that maybe they dont want to go full against the federal rules sins they are part of the feds , I wonder whats the lore reason how they can get away with breaching federal rules in federal space

Perhaps after

"I don't know what they're called – they hide behind various dummy companies – but I know what they're doing. They target people that match a specific genetic template, and kidnap them when they're just kids. Then they subject them to the most punishing, dehumanising training imaginable. By the end of it, the subject is barely even human. Their compassion and empathy have been completely hammered out of them. All that's left is the desire to cook. They call these creations...the Master Chefs."

And

"There's a secret training facility at Weber Gateway – I managed to sneak in through an air vent. In one room I saw a bunch of slaves chopping vegetables, blindfolded, while a deafening alarm went off. If the slaves dropped below a certain rate of efficiency or precision, they were given an electric shock. In another room they were navigating an assault course while making a soufflé. At least I think it was a soufflé – I'm not an expert. I've never seen anything like it."

They can pass them off as Vat Grown or something non human and thus not Slaves

Unless people investigated the kidnapping and reprogramming, no one might care, if the credits are flowing.

Just as the ISA notes that authorities turn a blind eye to breeches of Imperial Slave law, corruption is just as rampant in the Federation

The Galnet news articles suggest that their existence is dismissed as rumour, probably unknown to the general populace and just for the rich elite who are beyond the law.

I find the premise of this CG quite preposterous. Some out of the blue minor faction turning slaves into master chefs? Seriously... Dafuq?
Am I missing something here? Is there a background story? Does this CG come from a player group?

I mean, I like CG's. You never hear me complain about them (not that anybody follows my posts in particular of course) but I enjoy them. The backstories usually are quite believeable if you just add a pinch of suspension of disbelief.
But this one asks for a tonnage of that. A tonnage I don't have.
Being named after a tv-show doesn't help much either. I don't know if that was intentional (though I can't imagine it wasn't) but this kinda takes away some of the realism for me.
I'm not mad, I'm just slightly dissapointed..

They are descended from Australians. They never obey any laws ever, let alone their own government.

Also you get the 'Master Chef' joke, right?

The original article was fine as a cute joke to coincide with the Halo 5 release, but actually making a CG out of it is ridiculous. I am usually all for cashing in an easy few Mcr from the CG's, but this one demeans us all...

Not to get political but you've taking the :):):):) right?

As a society we Austrlians couldn't be more apathetic and compliant if we tried!

The days of the convict are over. I must admit if you get us really worked up there might be an angry letter to a newspaper though.

I was hoping for Michel Roux Jr clones, but I'll settle for some buttery biscuit base...

Look what you have done, Science!

Do the clones mutter "hmmmm, sweet, creamy" etc?

Ok I joined up last night at great trouble ((I got interdicted twice in as many minutes by cmdrs and released as I was empty) good pirate, nice pirate) and now I'm not sure why I bothered ....

you have to realize that not all of the federation are good, or bad. that is one individual minor faction that happened to be aligned with the federation, doesn't mean that they accept slavery.

Maybe the federation wont approve of it, and go to war or revoke it of its federation status? or punish it in some way? maybe we can push for a CG to do just that! Lets start up a thread.

it's not so much that it was a cg doing stuff that's illegal inside the jurisdiction... it's that put a front page spread out in the galactic times saying that they're doing something illegal....they're basically flipping The Federation and Winters the bird over it and we've seen the federation send out military might over less, and hudson is seen as a warhawk....

so civil war soon fellow spacers?

there is another possibility. that the federation couldn't care less, but then we can also shoot up the federation. tehehehehehe.
