I feel like in-between the lines of this post something like "Less uninformed silly reviews is a good thing" was intended to be said
You are quite correct though, some of the biggest complaint review thingies date back months now since before 1.2!

Well, what have we had since 1.2 ?
1.3 power play and 1.4 CQC. I'm not really convinced that any of those would sway the opinion of steam "reviewers" in a more positive direction.
In fact, both of them received quite a bit of flak even on this forum....and continue to do so.

There's still a number of reviews complaining about lack of co-op mechanics from before wings was introduced though.Just skimmed through if I'm honest, reading some of them makes me want to bash my head against a wall and go white knight on them but I am refusing to tie in my steam account

Well, i think we can agree on, the term "review" only applies in a very loose sense here.
You have to go and cherry pick to find those comments that carry some validity (praise and criticism both), the same goes for Metacritic and other sources.
The drivel you learn to skip and not let it alter your opinion (or your mood), best solution for both....head and wall.

I play ED via Steam and have been doing so since July. About two months ago there was a minor issue caused by the Steam launcher. It was sorted out quickly.
Other than that, I have had no problems. ED is a fabulous game, the best I have played.
To give an idea of my enjoyment of the game, I have racked up almost 750 hours in less than 5 months - mind you I am retired so have plenty of free time.
