Those who had the issue it wouldn't start, if run it as admin didn't work you can re-install it again, if you have the game installed it might uninstall it with the launcher so i believe copy/pastes should work around that.

I've tried that, and a multitude of other things, and found something very strange.

If I create another admin account, the launcher works perfectly and I get into SC. On my "normal" admin account created as part of the machine first setup - it doesn't work at all. So either it's not a "real" admin account, or SC's folder privileges are closed to "that" admin account for some reason. Copying the same 30 gig folder to another machine, and it works with every account. My desktop machine has the original SC folder that I copied, which also works with every account. Bizarre. At least it works.

Oh, if they are doing it by UEE Citizen Record, I might get in soon: UEE Citizen Record #72115

Hoping! I want some crashes!

Thanks that makes sense, sounds a bit limited to me though but we'll have to wait and see. I don't like the whole strange new worlds thing not being an in game feature, that's a shame.

The exploration trailer really was wildly off the mark.

Yeah it would be amazing if so, but with the limited number of systems this would be something that would work out much better on Elite, that is what No Man's Sky is meant to be as well. But yeah if the PG system is done right there, exploration can keep going even if you already ran trough all the missions, stations, points of interest, etc...

It hints me about the rights of the folder of where SC is installed? But never saw that happening, bizarre indeed.

Well if you're active on the community site seems to be enough to get such invite at this point, talking with Sean Tracy on the PTU chat right now they are on thanksgiving days off but still working on the issues from home, they had put 50K people in as they must make sure it handles this stress test with limited server power otherwise it won't handle live. Side of that it's kinda a luck game, you might just crash on some minutes or last 1 and even 2 hours before the instance RIPs, all we have to do is bypass the nightmare going on the Instance Manager and get into the right instance!

I think the invites are pretty random and have nothing to do with your forum profile. I was given an invite at the beginning of the second lot (incidentally within days of the lifting of my month long unwarranted probation).

Oh i was meaning active as login on the RSI website/launcher. After the 2nd one with 15K people they won't handpick so i guess they go with recently active accounts and forgot to exclude who doesn't own the game but have active accounts.

Well this is interesting. I just got an email from RSI with a Alpha 2.0 PTU invite - except I am not a backer, though I am forum member 25,000 or so (I joined the forum a few weeks before the kickstarter launched).

Are they sending out the invites just based on backer number or is everyone starting to get these now?

I got an invite too (I'm backer number 46,876).

Downloading it now, with an estimated 6 hours to go...

Could be something along those lines. Could be random. I honnestly don't know. I have not logged in to my hangar for about three months and quite possibly never will again (Put in for a refund and all). This doesn't look like it will be the game I was pitched. It will be a game though, clearly, and hopefully you and a lot of other people will get as much out of it as I do from Elite: Dangerous. Sinserely.

And you are basing this all off not having had any experience within the actual 2.0 version. Great work there mate, love to see the open mindedness and intent to actually test the game...

I'll be downloading tonight after my iRacing series :)

I've been actively in testing and on the forums since the month the Dogfighting module was out. I've put in several hundred hours testing different ships and game modes. I've also read a massive amount both in and off the forums there. You think my not having gone into the 2.0 PTU personally is some kind of tell all about how open my mind is? Look in the mirror, pal. Your hypocrisy is showing.

Downloading it now, with an estimated 6 hours to go...

8 hours later and it reckons there are still 6 hours to go, and I've had to restart the launcher a few times as the download just randomly stops.

I wouldnt mind knowing what you think of it. I have been toying with getting a basic pledge package and trying it out, but I am still not entirely convinced.

I'll try and put some video footage together (when it eventually downloads).

Okay it's confirmed now on Discord that future Invites to 2.0 will be based on citizen number:

98.7 Million in Funding as well, the last day of sales exploded.

It's a known issue, go to Settings and Disable P2P, download faster and shouldn't stop, even if it does it starts back by itself.

Also le hints: Verify your Game Files after the download (known issue), Be aware on this update you're up against a monster instance manager that will try to constantly put you on instances that are already full crashing you during loading, and when you get in it's a random luck game you might have 5 minutes play or 1hour. If you're more focused into test the FM changes, i would say to poke around Done Sim on Vandull swarm, that thing just got challenging. Good luck ;)

Those who are not willing to test and help with the progression of SC Alpha 2.0 should wait for the live version. This build is for testing purposes only.

The PTU 2.0 update has more content in it than any of the previous updates. It has quite wide ranging changes and an iteration on the flight model, which wasn't exactly the main focus of the build. So while you may have spent hours in AC, you are being very hypocritical in asking for a refund after spending so much time in game already, then not even testing the 2.0 patch which shows the beginning of the Persistent Universe.

Disabled P2P and it started re-downloading everything from scratch again. Utterly ridiculous.

I've killed it now, as I don't want to waste any more bandwidth with this nonsense.

Really? O___o I disabled mine during the PTU download it didn't reset, you sure it's re-downloading from scratch or only what's left from what you already downloaded before?
I mean PTU is for testing pretty much, if one wants more to just play around the live is the best bet to avoid 30GB now and 30GB again to live, specially with limited band/speeds, people on US downloading on launcher with 30-40MB /sec makes me jelly.
