Horizon questions

Will I be able to put my SRV in my Cobra mkiv? Then put my Cobra in my Anaconda? Or will I need a bigger ship? This way my Conda can stay in orbit and provide air support while I'm out and about.

No. The ability to launch ships from larger ships will not be in 2.0, you'll have to wait a little longer from that, and as far as I know, you won't be able to do this with anything as large as a Cobra.

Fighters only can be launched from larger ships and they can't fit SRVs.

Pure speculation now, but my understanding is that smaller ships with bays, like the Gunship and Keelback, can only launch the Falcon/Imperial Fighter. However, the larger ships (Anything with a bay that is Anaconda-sized or bigger) Can launch ANYTHING that is classified as a 'Fighter', which would include the Eagle. The Sidewinder is also mentioned by name on the Anaconda's description as fitting in the fighter bay.

Now given that both the Sidewinder AND the Eagle CAN deploy SRVs, it might actually be possible in this combination.

Sorry, but they specifically said in a streaming that the largest fighter which can get inside a ship (even a cutter) is a fighter (meaning falcon/iFighter).
They don't want the matrioska effect.

Oh I took that to mean anything CLASSED as a fighter (like the Eagle).

It's too soon to say for sure but I will be sad if that is the case, given that one of the Anaconda's famously as-ye-unused features is that it can deploy a Sidewinder.

So the plans for the Anaconda launching 2 sidewinders has changed? And here it's been in it's description for over a year now. :(

Doesn't the Anaconda say sidewinder in the description?

i looked it up, sidewinder sized is stated. So can the sidewinder have a SRV? If so, that would be an awesome combination.

In that one unique instance, yes, it should be technically possible. Would be super cool as the I-Fighter/F63 do not have FSDs but the Sidey does.

In future updates, can the Conda land on a planet like earth and take off again? Or will we need a middle stage?
If FD could find a large enough flat spot to land the Corvette and the Cutter and take a video of them, then I think you can probably land the Conda.

As to landing on earth like planets, only time will tell.

Just to reiterate what's already been said, Frontier ruled out the Sidewinder being launched from any of the larger ships in a recent livestream. For now it's just the Condor and Imperial fighter so the Anaconda description is out of date.

As far as I remember they ruled it out just for Horizons. I kinda remember DB saying they'll look into it in future seasons.

I just want to know what ships have the power to weight ratio to leave earths orbit. As landing on a zero or low gravity moon, from a power perspective, is easy. I know horizons will not answer the question, but, I'm super curious how they will do it. Also, can the engines even operate in an atmosphere? Space engineers and KSP both have different engines for each stage of flight. Inquiring minds want to know!

In the video of the landed cutter, they said that it was the 3rd planet they had tried, the 1st 2 had no place to land the cutter
