Eagles in the Outback

I don't know what it is, but this bounty hunter got bit by the deep space bug. Never really gave exploration much thought but I feel if I'm gonna do it, it's go big or stay home.

I'm planing a trip out to Sag A not in an Anaconda, not in a Clipper, not in an Asp, not even a DBS or DBE. I'm doing it in an Eagle.

I was saving for an Orca for my do all ship, but I have more than enough in the bank for the full outfit plus insurance if worse should come.

I'm gonna start fitting it as soon as I get back from work, but as soon as finals are done, I'm out in the black.

edit: Looked over my initial build and decided to trim the fat a bit. Still keeping the secondary fuel tank for emergency reserves though.

Good luck CMDR! I was actually planning to head to Sag A* in my own Eagle in not too long too (or Imperial Eagle if Frontier adds a Blue Streak skin for it by the time I'm ready) :) I'd love to tag along if I could, but I was planning to do it in the DB Explorer first (since my planned loadout won't have room for a surface scanner), and I don't really have a lot of time to play nowadays.

By choosing the Eagle for a longrange exploration run,
you chose high visibility and fun.
Just be wary of your module performance,
to prevent malfunction in the black.

Nothing can give you the same elation,
as diving into an asteroid belt with the Eagle
and enjoying your time mapping the system.

It's worth upgrading the power plant to a 2A rather than 2D - while you don't need the extra power, it's more efficient, so your ship runs cooler overall, which makes it rather more comfortable when fuel scooping :)

the extra 300 kg drops the jump range by about .11 Ly on single jumps and about .5 Ly off the total jump range. I know Lakons tend to run hot, but I've not flown a Core Dynamic before, so I think I'll do some chain jumps in the bubble first to see how hot she runs.

Just pinged the Fuel Rats on their page to let them know what shenanigans I'm about to get myself into, so even if i goof and drain the tank at a non scoop-able star I should be fine.

now all there is to do is actually build the eagle and give it a good rundown :D

I'm thinking I'll name her Albatross

yeah, well I don't have Imperial rank, and frankly I like the look of the Core eagle better.

plus the iEagle doesn't have sweet paintjobs either

Ahem, those are an abomination a cunning plan, whereby we identify those Federalist interlopers who took advantage of the idiocy generosity of that stupid cow our revered new Emperor, during her farcical and strictly temporary coronation.

Anyone flying a Clipper in vibrant orange goes into my little black book.
