Hardpoints-Pointless?

There is no warning for deploying weapons in a NFZ. I do it whenever I see a bounty at a station. I kill the ship and claim the bounty as the fine for firing in NFZ is trivial.
You can, but I think you get a warning message if you do (or at least it used to be the case).

The weapons can take up a lot of space when stored.
It is just cooler having them emerge from the hull. Every movie you see when weapons are activated and deployed can give you goosebumps in anticipation of whats coming next.
It happens in elite when you hear "LASTE has deployed hardpoints". Oh! Oh! Something's going down.

Out of all the canon ships and you used the delta-7?
I could argue that the best ships in the prequels were
Ywings (republic version)
Z95
Venator class destroyer
Maybe the alpha-3 as best fighter in the prequels...MMmm I dont know

I like the delta-7 , its actualy based on early concepts of the imperial star fighter (before george had the idea of ties)
as for the original , Awing all the way

Everyone seems to think that the only reason that our ships are streamlined is because of atmospheric flight. Yet we have to retract weapons to enter supercruise or jump.
I think that the main reason our ships are streamlined, is that frameshift needs it too.

I agree with everything you have said there. Also if I may add the Arc 170 and the acclamator class star destroyer :p

For the originals I love the Tie interceptors and the Bwings (no matter how hard they were to fly)

Imagine swooping in to a inhabited planet with your weapons out feeling all badass, when suddenly you smack into the atmosphere and the hull rapidly heats up to about 3000 degrees, cooking off the ordinance in your deployed missile launchers (which you can't really unload in space.) Not only did your ship just crack up from the detonation inside your shields, and you just got vaporized immediately, but you also just sent a 48 ton fusion reactor freefalling on an unsuspecting populace which will no doubt cause some consternation when it hits the ground. I think its rather important to be able to retract your weapons inside your hull. After all, we must comply with all year 3301 OSHA safety standards.
