So since we have a huge influx of new players here is an idea that might help them.

Put a link up to the manual right above the training menu once the game is started.

Sure it is on the launcher but having it actually having a link to it in the game is going to be more effective.

Just my 2 cents as I want to see the be more successful and little stuff like that goes a long way.

I honestly think the game should require you to play through all all the training missions except for the two difficult combat simulations (the "incursion" missions with waves of ships and then a conda at the end).

Doesn't take long to do the training (~30 mins tops), and the majority of new players have never played anything like ED so the tutorials are really important. It would be nice to see a tutorial for "basic trading" "basic bounty hunting" and "basic missions" since those are the 3 most important ways to make money in the game.

I agree. But I think anything short of having a big flashing red box that says "Read the manual first" if you click Start without reading it just won't cut it.

I just posted this in the Steam forums ;)

I think the game is fine as is.

What should be done is, put in the market descriptions, be it in steam or FD store, this disclaimer:

!!!?!?!!?!111!!?!??!?DEAR POTENTIAL CUSTOMER?!??!?!!111!?!!?!?!!!

We hope you can read because this game is not for the illiterate /s
This is the hardest game you'll ever play, if you choose to buy it, and we hope you do, but it'll make you bleed through your tear ducts. It has such a steep learning curve, the steepest wingsuite course would be a cakewalk, haha jk, no it's EZ.
RTFM. Yes we have a link for it on the launcher. READ IT!. No, it doesn't matter if you bought it on steam. You have to download it through the launcher.
Yes, the launcher, where you'll be expected to enter username and password. This is a membership based game, you buy a membership, not the software itself. It doesn't matter if it's distributed through steam or FD servers. No, Horizons keys will arrive later, when it's available for purchase on steam. No it doesn't mean if you preorder from FD store as an existing steam ED player. It's not like you'll not be able to play until the keys arrive. There will be a single client, through which you'll log in using your username and password. If you have purchased Horizons, you'll get access to the content it enables BUT THERE WON'T BE A CLIENT WHERE HORIZONS CONTENT IS NOT INCLUDED BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT MAKE SENSE. ANY OLDER INSTALLATIONS WILL BE OBSOLETE AS IN ANY OTHER UPDATE. NO WE DON'T DO IT THIS WAY BECAUSE WE WANT TO CONFUSE YOU. WE JUST TRUST YOUR INTELLIGENCE. IF THERE ARE ANY PROBLEMS AFTER LAUNCH ABOUT STEAM DOWNLOADED CLIENTS, OUR SUPPORT STAFF WILL HELP YOU PLAY YOUR GAME. WE WON'T TAKE YOUR MONEY AND RUN LAUGHING.

This game also requires a little bit of role playing to really get in the mood so, if you are the type who leaves all the imagination to the developer, this game ain't for you. We are a small team with a very ambitious boss so we have tons of work to do. Your purchase is appreciated if it happens but before you send the money, make sure you understand that there is a chance you'll get bored from time to time, or not like the game at all. Think again now. Do you want to buy in an ongoing software development project? Because it is one. It will not be finished for a long long time, so decide now. No one is forcing you to buy it!

please buy, we really need the money
