I'm afraid I'm missing the cultural reference, but these stars are all real-universe stars. "LHS" is a star catalogue, the Luyten Half-second Survey of stars that are visibly moving over time from our point of view on Earth. As you can see from the
Sinbad database for this star, it has a couple dozen alternative "names". Most stars have multiple possible names or designations. The ED starmap, however, only has room for one name, so FD had to pick one; they usually picked the "most commonly used" designation.
"LHS 472" also exists in the game, for example - but it's known as "Wolf 1062". "Wolf" being another catalogue of high-proper-motion stars.
