The fabled long-distance missions?

I've noticed that tha long range courier missions are bugged...
The contract looks attractive - 1 MCr for trade data from Robigo to X. On arrival, the actual payout is about 10000 Cr...

I thought that as well. Actually what it look like happens is that they tell you that they've only paid out 10k but your credit balance has actually gone up by the originally advertised amount.

Are you Elite ranked for trade by chance? (I can tell you as a Tycoon level player with a full load of 72 tonnes including a couple of 3-6M smuggling missions, in a long jumping quick scooping Asp, there is no way one can make 19M per hour. Can't be done. With all the stations one must go to for delivering, and even when avoiding many NPC encounters and with 28Ly jumps which is twice your Python loaded distance, for that amount of money it takes over two hours non-stop.)

He probably is Elite, I can easily make 19+ million an hour in a Python if I don't take breaks. 160+ tonnes of cargo.. most of the time you get multi missions to the same system.

Yes, I reached Elite trade rank by providing long range delivery services for legal and ...ahem... slightly less legal products out of Takurua. As Tycoon, I was only making about 12M/hr in Asp. Moved up to Python to increase that to 13-14M/hr. I've learned a few tricks since then and earn 19M by overstacking missions in a Python. On a good night, I make about 85M for 4.5 hrs work.
.
I noticed that the long range courier missions don't account for the time it takes to accomplish them unless you're flying a DBE or Asp and take off immediately. Not really any opportunity for delivery and courier missions at the same time as the cargo reduces jump range enough to make the courier missions a race, and who wants that?

I've noticed that a reliable way to increase the number of available transport missions is to take charity missions. Every evening when I first log on I'll see just a few missions, so I will take every charity mission I see and then go downstairs for some tea. When I come back and refresh the bulletin board there will be a lot more transport missions. The great thing about this is that if the minor factions are Fed or Empire aligned those charity missions will also count towards getting your next navy rank.

Ah thanks. Surprised that Elite pay jumps up by 2x. Seems like Tycoon pays only a little bit more than Entrepenuer but not much more - totals actually feel the same. :( And agree about the courier missions. I may grab one if its high paying and for the first or second station on my journey.

Well ... lets say if you don't know what you are doing or better what System you use for it. Last Friday I was 75% Entrepreneur and yesterday I made Trade Elite. 2-3 Runs a day in an Asp ... each one 40-60 Million worth ...

Plenty of these missions are available, just not silly amounts of them anymore.

And the 'Tycoon requirement' is a canard! I am an entrepreneur and regularly get legal long range missions for between 600,000 and 1,300,000 a pop. Smuggling missions still net me 3,000,000+ as and when they occur.

Sothis is not the only place to get these missions. I am an evil imperial, and my favoured system has two stations, very close together. I just hop between stations a few times and quickly pick up missions totalling 10,000,000+. A little patience is required, but not that much :)

Have fun, Commander, and let us know how you get on.

There still are lrs missions, if you know where and how to stack them. But please, PLEASE stop advertising open on Forums or all would be nerfed to boredom.

What is the name of of this Imperial System?? I want to make some mission to grab some Imperial Rank, I'm just Rank Outsider. May you share the system name with us?
thanks

Can anyone please clarify what is this "bubble"? Been wondering about that for a while now. Is it the PowerPlay bubblous thingy?

Yes sir, I believe it is. Select Powerplay in the Map, and zoom out, all of the coloured part is 'The Bubble'

its the civilised space bubble if I am not completely mistaken, you get long range missions from stations on the outer edges to stations >50LY away... I often see them in my home system on the edge of civilised space, sothis and other stand alone stations many many LY outside the otherwise civilised space area pay a lot more for their long range missions simply because they are so far out... I often get >100K delivery missions for 1 - 2 items to a sytstem 70 LY away and often multiple missions to the same destination are posted and often to others within a jump or 2 from that same destination... its easy to make over 500 - 600K clear profit in a matter of 4 or 5 jumps and sometimes over a million if there are enough missions to the same area stacked this way even in a lowly cobra...

Lately I have been taking a liking to the long time frame assassination missions... 3 weeks to kill 40 pirates for example paying out over 3 million credits plus bounties...and civilian and authority assassination missions payout even more given there is no bounties to earn and in fact bounties on you are generated when you take on those missions...

Just my t'penneth worth.........

These mission are still out there to be had, but you must be at least Tycoon to take advantage of the 'BIG' ones. For more high payout smuggling go to Robigo with an ASP, or for high payout cargo missions go to Takurua with a Python.

Good Fuel Scoop is as essential as Oxygen if going to do these mission as you will cross a big belt of none scoopable stars, with fuel getting very low, and additional tank should also be considered, or find a station stop off along the route!

Planning is essential in these mission, and Interdiction's will be like flies around dog pooh! Run or fight, up to you, but be prepared to do either (Or both if you want) Expect to put 4 good hours into this, but you WILL reep the rewards! I am nearing my next goal very rapidly (1 Billion of Credits).

...and after 1 Billion the "Game over" Screen comes? ;-)

I probably resemble a lot of this and am finding it hard to wean myself off these missions. Although I am not sure they are worth the time it takes to stack them up.

The advent of the trading cutter will be a game changer in my view. It’s relatively easy to find a good two jump route giving 3500cr/T so 700T should get 2.8M per round trip easy.

At that point I reckon it will be goodbye to long range, convert the bulk trading conda to an exploration vessel. Use the cutter for cash generation and the Python when I want some R&R and need to melt some stuff.
