Honestly? This has been my thought as well. Morse indicates old human, and the weird chittering is bugish like a thargoid. Them you have that galnet way back that stated something like "if you took relics from Italy and relics from Argentina you'd think that two different species created them when in fact they're both human"

Bonus points if anyone can source the article as I'm lazy

https://community.elitedangerous.com/galnet/30-NOV-3301 (3rd article down).....but that might not be the one you're referring to! doh!

Soontill Relics Test Results Queried - 18 MAY 3301

As further alien artefacts claiming to be from Soontill are being sold on the open market, the results of the initial scientific tests have been revealed.

“We were looking for key markers,” explains Chief Xeno-Chemist Lyran Betar. “Elemental make up, crystalline structure, anything that indicates it could have originated from human hand.”

And the results? Inconclusive. The research team’s results clearly state that no known human technology could have created the relics, yet they do not quite align with known Thargoid materials. Whatever they are, they are indeed very old, with isotopic dating indicating that they could well be tens of thousands of years old.

Jean Molyneaux, a historian from France, Earth, suggests we look back at our own past to determine the home of these relics. “Imagine an alien travelling back two thousand years into mankind’s past. The varied culture, arts and building materials of the Aztecs, Greeks, the Shang dynasty, what have you, the alien could think they were all different species, if that was his way of thinking…”

The community seems wary of awarding these artefacts any title yet, given the fifty years of false hopes since Soontill was first mentioned by the Thargoids. However, reports indicate that these relics have now arrived at labs on both Mars and Capitol for further testing, and with any luck, we may soon finally agree on what these relics are, or are not.

BAM! There you go.

But yeah it basically talks about Soontill relics and how human relics look different you could asume they were not all made by humans. I want to say this was back in the summer...? I'm honestly not sure though.

For game-play reasons so that players can decipher it. The same kind of reasoning that enabled Jeff Goldblum to infect an alien space-ship from his Apple-Mac over an apparently compatible Wi-Fi Connection (Hotspot: EARTHSUCKSLOL).
Could be, but from what I've been able to see the guys at FD tend to do things that are a bit more thought through than the plot from Independence Day. Which is fortunate.

Also, if the probes are Thargoid and they intend to attack, why use morse? Why use a form of communication that we can recognise and decipher? "Hey guys, let's broadcast in a weird language that is not our own, but that our enemy can understand".

And if they were trying to deceive us into thinking they are friendly you'd think the message would be a lot clearer, like the morse equivalent of "We come in peace", to mislead us into letting our guard down.

They may be of Thargoid origin, and they may want to attack, but there are still a lot of holes in the "Thargoid invasion" theory.

May have something to do with the fact it's a game designed by a bunch of people sitting in an office in England and they want to have a mystery going that is at least accessible to the general consumer that bought the game. Ahem.

They could have used an unintelligible made up language, that was also triple encrypted, but my patience is already wearing thin over the appearance of the Thargoids, nevermind waiting for somebody to analyse an encrypted pseudo language.

The Elite games have historically made reference to Thargoids, David Braben said there would be Thargoid content this season coming.
Everybody wants Thargoids. Why would they stick in an indeterminate alien species nobody knows about, or cares about?

I'm not saying it's Thargoids, but it's Thargoids ;)

Oh I don't know - coming up with a script where the president of the USA personally flies a fighter jet up the alien mothership's jacksie must have taken something like over a whole minute to come up with

It wasn't the president... and it was originally going to be a crop duster instead of an F16...

You can easily create a mystery that's solvable by humans without having to use a human language. In fact they have already done that with other aspects of the UA, like having it point to Merope, instead of saying 'Oi! Go to Merope guvnah!'.

So while it's possible that FD have used morse in the UA for the reasons you are stating I find it unlikely. I may be wrong, but I hope I'm not because that would mean they are ok with using things in-game that are unnecessarily immersion-breaking, like a Thargoid speaking with a cockney accent :)

Here is a little alternative theory, based on old and recent events and articles.

Someone is lost in space. More precisely on and airless planet. They don't know where they are and they are low on resources.

Their only reference point is that they can see the Pleiades for where they are.

All hope seem lost until they discover that there are creatures living on this planet. These creatures are capable of living in vacuum and produce energy form either minerals in the ground, radiation or both. There are plenty of these creatures.

Having access to an energy source capable of operating in vacuum and high radiation, these crafty settlers starts 'upgrading' the creatures with technology that they have. Bits and pieces from ships and probes they have with them. They may even be capable of manufacturing.

These semi-organic creations are sent out in space. Programmed to go to the Pleiades and then spread out in all directions. The hope is that someone will find them understand what is going on.

And I like it very much.

Let me add that would be so nice if these lost humans, lost in space somewhere, are the thousands from the Antares. Soooooo nice. ;)

So THAT is what happened to Halsey.

Thargoids confirmed!

That article is the only Galnet mention of Thargoids.

' fifty years of false hopes since Soontill was first mentioned by the Thargoids'

It's a rather important GalNet, which I continually forget to mention haha

Also, pretty sure Soontill has landable moons!

Just to be thorough, I suppose selling one of each normal commodity at Bond might be a good idea. Perhaps selling certain cartographic data might do something? Maybe even selling a certain ship or module? Crazy ideas, but after the failed rares experiment I'm stumped.

How many ways can a player interact with a station (besides shooting it)

Concerning the med convoys.. what is the main thought about their contents? I swear they must be making a superhuman on unwilling survivors.

Here are the contents of my last encounter:

Progenitor Cells x5
Performance Enchancers x 7
Occupied Escape Pod x 1
Scientific Research x 1

A Master Python, escorted by 4 Master Vultures...

Sounds more like search and rescue, IMO. To resuscitate someone it requires a lot of drugs. The prog cells are for rapid healing and the performance enhancers could be adrenaline which is needed to kick start a heart.

That is assuming the occupied pod is human... quick, some one use a cargo scanner on a med convoy escape pod
